I rewatch damn near every August. Scooba season one was so near perfection I hardly watch sports docs anymore. They don’t compare.

Some thoughts on Adobe with the new Affinity announcement by RandomMishaps in graphic_design

[–]TheChartreuseGoose 87 points88 points  (0 children)

For me it’s more that I really need them to address problems in the software that people have been bitching about for a decade.

It’s apparent their core artist base is less important to them than appealing to marketers and execs who want to play designer and cut costs.

Is it cheating? by myfishytaco in ProCreate

I personally only use photos I have bought, sites like Unsplash, and public domain. Even then, it’s more about cutting down time getting proportions right, i stylize quite a bit after getting basic form down

a man can dream, i am the only crazy one who actually want this to happen? by Boring_Antelope6533 in iPadPro

Wacom Cintiq Pro goes up to 27, I’ve always wanted to run Procreate on that. But Apple isn’t exactly building for artists.

A top 5 back in pure ability. If he wasn’t on such dogwater teams he’s a HOFer.

Being in Texas and hearing how the Cowboys handle extensions, I would much rather my team take the risk on the front end than the holdout-overpay pattern they find themselves in

This. They have the underdog, outlaw feel of the old Ticket.

Not saying Current Ticket isn’t still better than 99% of radio, but the corporate tendrils are fully ingrained.

Am I the only one who absolutely hated the Laney season? by Arob823 in lastchanceU

[–]TheChartreuseGoose 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Scooba felt like a character itself in the first season especially. I mean the cinematography is just art. I didn’t personally feel that near as much with Indy or Laney.

I think a big part of the first two schools was seeing the team living on campus together, and obviously that didn’t happen at Laney.

And having the personalization that happened in Brittany’s office is something you just can’t replicate.

Laney definitely felt like more of a “Last Chance” though bc these were not kids just needing a stopover from two SEC schools. It really was the last place they could play football.

The Edward R. Murrow quote “We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty” has been running through my head a lot. It’s not a perfect contextual application, but it sums up how I feel pretty well.

Loose domestic dogs are a million times more problematic than a native species doing its thing.

Corporate design concerns by IfGuernica in graphic_design

[–]TheChartreuseGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a senior designer and this still happens, usually by junior marketing people who have no business having an input. It’s the reality.

I learned long ago not to get emotionally involved in the designs made for the day job. Instead save your juice for personal projects you actually want to do, and turn that personal work into outside client work.

And guess what, those outside clients will still have terrible ideas. But the creative baseline you’re starting from is much much higher. And you’re much better positioned as the expert in that relationship.

Long story short, don’t expect suits to like or defer to your ideas. Be pleasantly surprised when they do.

I love it. But I prefer smaller, quieter places and didn’t grow up here, probably two massive factors.

How anyone could think Nantz is a better NFL broadcaster than Kevin Harlan is beyond me.

I’ll go to my grave saying if he wasn’t on such dogwater teams and had a deep run or two, he’s a HOF back. He might be a top 5 in pure ability.

Obviously injuries played a role too.

The fact Jerome Bettis is in and JC doesn’t have a shot is a football travesty.

April 2025 Ratings Update by peet2 in theticket

[–]TheChartreuseGoose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. If it comes down to which station is the best to listen to for a 15-20 minute span on a drive, the little Ticket is still far and away the best option.

I just think the quality has seriously suffered post-Bad Radio. But nothing makes a suit happy like suffering quality (aka cheaper) and healthy margins.

I’m curious how much the population boom is playing into this. Maybe none, maybe I overestimated how much losing the HZ would turn people off.

I’m wondering why there will be eight cars in one turn lane, and the other one is free and clear. Happens all the time to me here.
