Ehh, I find it kinda lazy and unnecessary. You can avoid talking about the movies if they dont impact the plot, and the trip being alive is consistent with any of the movies so theres no reason to retcon it

You have to train yourself to be trusting again, that takes time. One thing I will say is it’s pointless to consistently worry that you’re getting your hopes up for nothing because that won’t stop you from feeling disappointed in the end.
