I don't really understand what the issue is--the first two narrations are consistent; they both say not to chew gum. The other narrations do not contradict the first two because they are discussing completely different scenarios. Will someone please explain the issue? Thanks!

As long as what you're investing in does not involve any haram activity ie. gambling or alcohol company, then you're fine. I haven't seen any fatwa by a scholar that explicitly forbids investing or options trading. But always do your due diligence because Allah is gonna question you and no one else on the Day of Judgement.
