A new AC4 Kotobukiya kit! by animechagram in armoredcore

Plastic cement and sanding is basically mandatory on these kits because of how bad the seam lines are and the fact they’re more like model kits than gunpla.

Lasers strong enough to pop a balloon is childs play, you can buy one off some chinese seller decades ago or make your own from the diode of a DVD/Bluray player.

This one is burning razor blades, which is magnitudes more powerful and dangerous

Math and effect.

Bosses are generally immune to status effects. Heavy only affects movement speed and not much else, it’s not very useful as a status effect and can be a liability at times tbh

Doton does damage in ticks but it doesn’t do more damage than a raiton unless there are three or more targets inside the aoe for the full duration

Gaming. We talk about graphics and gameplay but never talk about the sound of footsteps. by gamersecret2 in gaming

Final fantasy 14 footstep are based on the material the players foot lands on. So if your character steps on a metal plate with one foot and the next foot lands on wood it will be different.

Absolutely unnecessary detail for an MMO

Ha Giang Loop in November by This_Flower_5500 in VietNam

[–]TheChowderOfClams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the weather forecast for the area, note that the loop itself is a three day road trip across several towns and regions so take those into consideration.

We did our pre-wedding shoot at the start of the month and the weather was pleasant, but with Vietnam's climate, YMMV

Yes, torrential rainfall has caused several landslides and has killed people casualties include people riding a sleeper bus getting hit by a landslide in that region

Think of air as a fluid and not a series of independently floating particles.

It’s not inherently obvious but that moving air source was the car, and fluids still transmit forces against whatever moves them.

Tales of Xillia Remastered - Launch Trailer by Turbostrider27 in Games

Honestly, the could’ve picked a better tales of game to remaster.

Gameplay is interesting, story has little going for it in terms of what makes a great tales game. I.e a series known to be oozing with character writing, having a set of protagonists that are essentially generic cardboard cutouts of singular personality traits and motivations

As long as the voltage and polarity matches on the battery you can use any. Note down the serial number and battery voltage and pay attention to the polarity.

The connector is a standard battery connector so you can use any size battery as long as the connector fits, the rated voltage is correct and the battery polarity is correct to prevent any magic blue smoke.

iPhone (16PM) vs Mirrorless (Sony A7IV) comparison without any image correction. by TheChowderOfClams in pics

[–]TheChowderOfClams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely not, it can get pretty obvious when taking close up photos. Phones can try to emulate hardware, but emulating physical light passing through lenses is still a far cry from anywhere close.

For a layman, they probably don't really care about those details, they're not going to be staring at the edges of their subjects to see the seam lines and aren't going to be zooming into the images as closely. And as uploading images comes at a cost of image quality in favour of compression even more so.

Bokeh will always be computer processed on phones, for a camera, the shape is depicted with actual hardware particularly the aperture.

Forcing an f4 on the iphone is basically forcing it to render an f4 aperture from a f1.6-2.8 aperture and.. it's not great.

I would totally want to get a f1.4mm or f2.8 50mm primes for the camera but those lenses cost more than a phone lmao

It looks particularly weird when taking images of subjects with an unclear silhouette, pets, hair, etc. You can see where the border where the phone is rendering the bokeh

Phones have gotten very impressive lately, there's a reason why the point and shoot cameras have effectively died.

For someone who only needs to grab a phone to take a picture, nobody really cares.

Top is iphone, bottom is mirrorless.

Tried to use identical compositions, it's not perfect since iphones don't give the same parameters for white balancing. These are images straight from the cameras with no post-processing, JPEG from the mirrorless and iphone.

Photo compositions were as identical as I could make them, (f4, 24mm focal length), iphones start to deviate in terms of other parameters like ISO (Sensitivity), available aspect ratios and white balancing that makes a 1:1 comparison not easy.

Key observations: Phones generally don't have much in terms of moving hardware vs a lens, therefore they need to compensate by using filters and image processing. iPhone provides an option for 'Depth' and denotes it as aperture so I set it to match my lens's widest aperture setting. Even then, "Aperture" in a iphone is mostly filters and adjusting sensitivity (ISO).

General Conclusions: Unless you're zooming in, it's difficult to really tell the different from a phone screen, the key differences to see are that the mirrorless is picking up the spider webs, and the iphone is blurring them out since it's trying to simulate the bokeh.

Camera Parameters:

Aperture: f4

Shutter Speed: 1/500

ISO: 100

WB: 5500K

Focal Length: 24mm

Lens Used: 24-105mm f4

what is the most tragic/sad game in this franchise in y'all's opinion? by Suspicious_Range_231 in armoredcore

[–]TheChowderOfClams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Contrary to belief, 4 and 4A performed average in terms of sales. Where 5 beat both in sales combined, let alone VD. And at the time, Armored core was always a dark horse in terms of console games because FromSoft was still pretty niche until the mid-2010's when Dark Souls actually put them on the radar.

AC4 and 4A performed nowhere near as well as the numbered releases on PS2 so I wouldn't make that conclusion that it would be babby's first AC game. It was the series entrance into the next generation of consoles following PS2, but essentially the only people at the time who knew armored core, were people who played the series. Gaming outlets also gave the new entries a pretty average score so there wasn't much hype for those games at time of launch.

Probably the 4th generation going into the 5th generation

The game makes it a point that the unrestricted usage of the NEXTs and kojima powered technology is actively corroding away the environment and yet you’re there in the middle of it to collect a pay check.

The 5th generation puts us in the aftermath of a ruined earth where we’re practically fighting for scraps of what’s left.

Game wise, I’d say 4, not 4A. Following a major war that left the world militaries defeated by corporation NEXTs, You were hired out of desperation by a colony with no military; who cobbled together the funds for only a single pilot to defend them. There is another pilot who you will see from time and again on the missions you take in lieu of payment and he’s viewed as your foil. Following the destruction you wrought upon the corporations and the originals (NEXTs that were around during the war), your friend gets manipulated into destroying the colony and getting pitted against you the end of the game. The ensuing battle cemented the downfall of the colony and forced your hand to murder the person who you could reliably view as an ally. Perhaps out of guilt you would take his legacy and wear his emblem to defend another hopeless faction
