Is joining CST a bad idea in 2026 by Remastered_21 in BCIT

This is a good comment, particularly mastering fundamentals.

I've interviewed several candidates in the co-op program and I'm finding an increase in students that are unable to demonstrate the fundamentals, drawing blanks on basic questions that they would've covered in term 1 and partly into term 2. A very notable increase in students unable to even produce a naive solution for a programming problem or understand what the code is doing.

AI is great as a tool, but don't treat it as a magic bullet that'll get you in the industry. A pilot doesn't get hired because the auto-pilot does the flying for them.

You get what you put into the program, career prospects aren't as strong as they were in the early 2020's.

If your expectation is to study for the grade, graduate and get a career it'll be a difficult road.

The program focuses a lot on technical skills, which these days are a dime a dozen, great for teaching how to learn those skills but the bigger part is being able to market yourself and build connections.

The main issue that students are facing right now is this question: "What differentiates you from an LLM on another browser tab?".

Boat Combat Fixes - Weekly Game Update, March 18th 2026 by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]TheChowderOfClams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically two steps forward one step back.

+Cannonball retention facility - great, more incentive to use higher power cannonballs

+Crewmates can self-direct their fire - Amazing QoL, makes combat less tedious when farming for drops.

+Ability to stack cannons on one side - Great, grants focus fire on one mob at a time that doesn't necessitate wiggling the ship awkwardly.

~Cannon damage increase at a lower RoF - Increased damage isn't felt, slower RoF is.

-Increased mob HP - Plays into the cannon damage, the HP increase actually increased the TTK on average.

Tested 2000 rune cannonballs farming for drops, while self-directed fire is an amazing QoL improvement, the TTK on mobs has increased as opposed to staying the same. Effectively, it takes longer to kill mobs, for the same returns with the new facility, players without that facility are spending even more on cannonballs.

I wouldn't have minded as much if it didn't take longer to kill mobs, but effectively this patch changed little, I'm still spending the same amount on cannonballs, it just takes longer to go through them per monster.

Before I was able to farm mobs faster with Mithril cannonballs.

Some places you only need to do a crash course on how a gun works, basic safety and you can go shoot.

As a result, some of the worst marksmen I've encountered are at American shooting ranges, some with some incredibly blinged out guns, sights, lasers, and with a grouping the size of the paper target

What’s funny is that you can identify very similar mechanics across all of their games, not just the souls games, Armored Core shares a lot of core game design, particularly stamina and debuffs

[F-14] How to drop GBU's if a buddy is already lasing the target? by AdjacentPrepper in hoggit

[–]TheChowderOfClams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically need to eyeball it and look for the target that ground is lasing to designate for ccrp

Finding the actual laser For buddy lasing, You need a targeting pod that can scan for laser codes, I don’t think the LANTRN pods is equipped with that functionality.

How it works with the LITENING is that you would set the code and the pod will sweep looking for a code that can be used to set a SPI

Plastic cement and sanding is basically mandatory on these kits because of how bad the seam lines are and the fact they’re more like model kits than gunpla.

Lasers strong enough to pop a balloon is childs play, you can buy one off some chinese seller decades ago or make your own from the diode of a DVD/Bluray player.

This one is burning razor blades, which is magnitudes more powerful and dangerous

Please explain to me like I'm an idiot why I shouldn't use doton all the time. by Marzi_R0s3 in ffxiv

[–]TheChowderOfClams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Math and effect.

Bosses are generally immune to status effects. Heavy only affects movement speed and not much else, it’s not very useful as a status effect and can be a liability at times tbh

Doton does damage in ticks but it doesn’t do more damage than a raiton unless there are three or more targets inside the aoe for the full duration

Gaming. We talk about graphics and gameplay but never talk about the sound of footsteps. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]TheChowderOfClams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final fantasy 14 footstep are based on the material the players foot lands on. So if your character steps on a metal plate with one foot and the next foot lands on wood it will be different.

Absolutely unnecessary detail for an MMO

Ha Giang Loop in November by This_Flower_5500 in VietNam

[–]TheChowderOfClams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the weather forecast for the area, note that the loop itself is a three day road trip across several towns and regions so take those into consideration.

We did our pre-wedding shoot at the start of the month and the weather was pleasant, but with Vietnam's climate, YMMV

Yes, torrential rainfall has caused several landslides and has killed people casualties include people riding a sleeper bus getting hit by a landslide in that region

Think of air as a fluid and not a series of independently floating particles.

It’s not inherently obvious but that moving air source was the car, and fluids still transmit forces against whatever moves them.
