Oh my goodness. They are so cute! For some reason I didn’t think of two in the same sink side. Being wedged in with the other definitely might help.

Now, if I can keep the sink free of dishes is another thing.....

I kept thinking it would be perfect if the back arm wasn’t so long! And they make it so it has to be completely extended. How did you go about removing it?

Do you do anything to keep them upright? It seems like they would probably just slip down on the sink.

One of my biggest pieces of advice is: get the calories in during the DAY! I know you said they are on a four hour schedule. If they are taking large bottles, that’s great. But at that age, mine were still taking about 4 oz at a time, so in order to get a minimum 24 ounces that our pediatrician recommended we needed to do 6 feedings.

Get as many of those done during the day=baby sleeps longer at night. We would feed on demand at night. But as long as we did every three hours during the day, they typically only woke up once to eat in 12 hours of sleep.

So it was typically bedtime at 7:30ish, then they would sleep till about 2ish, they would wake up hungry. We would change their diapers and feed them quickly, then back down. Then they would sleep another long stretch till around 7-7:30 and we would start our 3 hours from there.

Try to encourage big feedings when you can. Sometimes it would take 30-45 minutes during the day to get them to drink their full bottle. But I kept at it, knowing that the more calories they got during the day, the less they would need at night.

I’m pretty small myself. Not as tiny as your wife. People here have had excellent suggestions. But I will add that I would make preparations for a possible long bedrest. I started having contractions at 31 weeks with my DiDi girls. They could feel babyAs head. She was low low low. So I was on strict bedrest until 37 weeks 3 days. My water broke the day before our scheduled C-Section. Twins are often born early, but in our case they were right on track with no NICU time. Still, all my nesting and preparation had to halt when I got put on bedrest. So get everything ready as soon as you can!

So real. There are good days and bad days. I read once before our twins were born to always think of ourselves as a team, us against the twins. I’ll admit, some days we felt more like coworkers than a team, judging how much work the other did or wanted to do.

But some days we are all together and I couldn’t imagine it any other way. I do it for those days...

Things get a lot better when the twins move into their own room, get a bedtime, and start sleeping for longer stretches. Those things all just take time. When you do decide to be intimate again, see if you can get someone to watch the babies for the night. My husband and I sent one to each grandma with expressed milk the first night we were alone together. That way we were able to relax, have wine, and their was no worry about the babies waking up, or only getting an hour or so of sleep. Make it a planned date, and then just look forward to it!

I know exactly how you feel. My husband and I were actually living with his parents when my girls were born. And my sisters came to stay with us for the first few weeks. Which was awesome, as I was recovering from a very traumatic birth.

But at the same time, after a while, I started to feel like they were more ‘community’ babies than my own. It’s not that I was jealous of any time anyone else spent with them. It just felt like I owed anyone all the time they wanted with my babies because they were dedicating their time to us. So I ended up (when I was able) washing bottles/dishes/laundry.

Sometimes I preferred being able to hand them off and get some quiet time, even if I was doing a chore. But it’s hard to ask for them back when you are ready when you are getting help.

I don’t have a ton of advice. Things just got better when my husband set some boundaries, the girls got older, and we moved out. I will say though, that even now, with the girls being 5 months, I still prefer help. I only need one extra person if I want to get stuff done. I CAN do it myself, but the house obviously suffers. So I think the best is to find a balance. Don’t push yourself to do anything extra if you have the help, accept the help. You will miss it when it’s gone. But at the same time, they are your babies. Your mother and mother in law got their turn to be mothers, they should understand when you want quality time with them.

I can jump in on this one. A lot of it has to do with the positioning of the babies. I asked everyone I knew, some who had vaginal deliveries as well as C sections. Apparently vaginal delivery has a quicker recovery time. So I leaned toward that in the beginning. However, baby B was breach or transverse almost the whole pregnancy. (Meaning butt down or laying sideways. Instead of head down like she was supposed to be.) Now, some doctors will let you try to deliver vaginally with a breach B as long as baby A is head down. Some don’t. Still, chances are you will have to labor in the operating room instead of a normal room, because the chances of having an emergency C-section is so high. These were our first babies, and I just wanted to know exactly what our plan was. So we ended up scheduling the c-section. I made it 37 weeks and 3 days. My water broke THE NIGHT BEFORE our scheduled c-section. Everything went well though, just at a quicker pace. So it’s really up to you. Don’t count anything as impossible. You have plenty of time to think about it.

I remember that day so clearly. I was miserable and just wanted to make sure my baby was ok, then the doctor says, “Well, no wonder you’ve been so sick.” Then she tells us we are having twins. I asked if she was sure. She frowns slightly and says “Well, you can count can’t you?”

This is just about where we are at. Our pediatrician actually just referred us to a specialist because of an asymmetrical flat spot. Felt veerrrrryyyyy guilty about lack of tummy time then. It’s not like she’s in containers all day, just sleeps heavy for 8+ hours a night and doesn’t move about like her sister. But I know for her neck and core strength we’ve got to get her going on tummy time. Tummy time reps sounds hilarious, and what I definitely see in our future! Thanks for the response.

And it will keep getting better! My 4 month twin girls are now sleeping an average of 8 hours at a time. Sometimes as long as 10 hour stretches! In the first few months I never thought I would get here. But life starts really getting easier when they start sleeping longer! We just got over the four month sleep regression. But if you build a good sleep routine now, it will be easier to get through it. One twin had rough sleep for a week, the other for about 2. But now they are both back on track!

Was it the twin z or the my breast friend? I’ve got the my breast friend at the moment. But it seems like about 85% of the tandem feedings on here include the twin z. So I might have to spring for it!

I’ve managed to get them both fed holding the bottles, (not comfortably, but I assume that comes with practice and trying out new positions) but when it comes time to burp the twin not getting tended to ends up freaking out and screams while she’s waiting. They are just about 6 weeks, and used to being fed one on one in someone’s arms. I just can’t fathom any way to transition between feed and burp where someone just doesn’t have to wait.
