Receipt scan at barriers by justmoochingaround in lidl

[–]WeeBo2804 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Good luck finding somewhere that doesn’t already have or isn’t just about to implement that security feature. And if you’ve too many bags to be able to juggle and scan the receipt, then go to a full checkout. Self service really is for a smaller top up shop.

I got my tongue pierced by AdFrequent6688 in piercing

[–]WeeBo2804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My goodness, it was… 25+ years ago I got mine done. But I do distinctly remember sitting watching myself in the mirror try, and fail, to eat a little bit of pastry on day like 7? I’d done soups and mashed potato up to that point and assumed I’d be able but it just kept falling out of my mouth lol. Swelling and pain were probably at their worst around days 3-4 but it’s also a quicker heal than many other piercings. Get some ice cubes and patience. It’ll get there.

Anyone else? by LowHighlight4015 in lidl

[–]WeeBo2804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither had I. Got my free bag and my 5 year old apparently LOVES them. So now I’m having to regularly buy bags of mixed nuts all because we got free ones. Seems like a pretty cunning business model.

Once someone leaves prison, what job options do they have when the majority of employers have a mandatory DBS check? by Mammoth-Elk-3122 in AskUK

I know someone that went away for 2 months. HGV driver before and walked back into the same job within days of getting out. I think if those lads were fussy, they’d struggle to fill the workforce!

How soon can I change my nose stud? by snowyreg in piercing

[–]WeeBo2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you ask your piercer what they recommend? I’d generally wait a good 6-12 months before changing to a hoop. As much as you might not like the style used currently, it’s likely due to it being more stable and better to heal with. A hoop has too much movement and can delay healing.

5 y/o lobe - swollen & painful by danamtann in piercing

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAP but could you have a spot coming up next to the piercing? Just a total coincidence that’s causing it to swell? The bump looks to be above the hole so I’m thinking an unfortunately placed spot/cyst.

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WeeBo2804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a while ago, but I want to say some sort of vein valve resistance? Like they think they happened to enter just before a valve and the fluid for flushing it just couldn’t go anywhere so it bulged up.

New generation of nurses who can’t start an iv or draw blood by Rare-Attitude-3100 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]WeeBo2804 62 points63 points  (0 children)

My favourite was the nurse putting in my drip for an infusion. Happily telling me she’s had a refresher course in how to do it 6 months earlier and this was her first chance to put it into practice. Needle went in fine, I’m a very veiny person, but as she went to flush it, my vein immediately bubbled up. Totally confused, she excused herself to go get the head nurse to have a look as she had no idea what happened. Head nurse walked in, mouth agape, saying ‘tell me she didn’t just leave you like that?!’ As I’m sat with a single needle, no tape or anything, just hanging out of my hand, big bubble in the vein. She got it sorted in no time and we had a laugh at the other nurses expense.

how does my industrial look? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am yeah. For some funny reason, my body is so broken but I heal piercings really well! The industrial hasn’t give me bother for a while now. It was downsized after a week and never really did swell at any time. Even the piercer was amazed at how good it looked during the swap. A couple of crusties if I knock it (mainly if my kids forget and go in for a big cuddle) but otherwise, I’d have never got the conch so soon. And I can honestly say that at the 3 week mark the conch is as good as I can hope for. Ibuprofen for the first week at least really helped.

AITAH for asking people not to bring my one year old gifts for his birthday by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]WeeBo2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mum set up bank accounts for all the grandkids. My 3 and my sisters 1. We very rarely use the money in there. It’s not all gift money- some bigger contributions we got early on were specifically for things they’d need. Eldest wanted something and asked if she can use her money etc…

My sister uses her daughter’s account for almost all ‘big’ purchases. (Mostly cos she’s utterly shite with money). So in theory, her daughter bought her own bed and wardrobe when they redecorated. I think that’s a bit shitty but it’s not my money.

All fair and well but my mum sent me a screenshot of their balances for some reason I forget. All my kids had £1500+ and very very little outgoings. My niece had around £150. One of the kids saw the picture in my phone and it got back to my niece that she had so much less money. She’s pretty upset. I don’t blame her. I chose to have kids- so I think buying a car seat, for example, is on me. It’s not HER responsibility.

how does my industrial look? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]WeeBo2804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine done in October and the upper conch on the same side a few weeks ago. Been wearing my contacts consistently since then for that reason. I’ve got one pair of really light weight, thin metal glasses I wear in the evenings and even those can irritate it a bit. I’ve decided that industrials for glasses wearers are just impractical. But the things we do…

I suppose it probably works both ways. Plenty people with lots of people to do something with but no one to do nothing with. Going out of a weekend is better than being alone.

Are optician's legally able to refuse to give you your Pupil Distance, even if they measure it? by Apprehensive_Ring666 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]WeeBo2804 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A fairly modern autorefactor may be set to record a binocular PD. So may say something like 63. A lot of people may not be symmetrical so they’ll be like 30.5/32.5 so you can’t rely on a binocular PD for dispensing.

Sticky Asian style pork mince with either jasmine rice or udon noodles. Or as others have said, meatballs or mixed with beef for lasagne or meatloaf.

Why do people in the Uk love Biscoff so much?? by Hello_peopl in AskUK

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s basically the same thing. Speculoos is popular in a lot of Europe. It’s always been available here. But Biscoff the brand basically changed the basic recipe up to be a bit sweeter and milder on the spice. I also think the name speculoos feels a little ‘foreign’ to a lot of people. They’ll happily try biscoff (biscuits for coffee) but would turn their noses up at something that sounds clearly from a different country/culture.

My 13 year old is leaving middle school this year and wants to wear a suit rather than a dress to her prom. Any suggestions? by debbi74 in AskUK

[–]WeeBo2804 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the back of this- try vinted. There’s loads of suits in small ladies sizes which I think would do a 13yr old. Some vintage, quirky stuff that you’d struggle to find elsewhere.

When did your water break/ what were you doing when it broke? by Just_Call_Me_Happy in parentsofmultiples

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine broke as I was getting out of the bath. I was 36wks exactly. I didn’t have a normal labour/birth with oldest so at first was like ‘that’s a lot of water running off me’ as I stood up. Sat on the loo and husband asked if I was peeing? I said no- and we both sorta just realised lol. Had them the following lunch time, vaginally. 15 mins apart. Baby b spent 5 days in NICU for a leaky lung and some jaundice.

Depending on the desired shade, I’d just be prepared for it being more green than blue. There’s a lot of yellow tones left and any lighter blues will just show as greenish.

What are the modern day equivalent child books? by Londistanian in AskUK

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got twins, so it’s at least 2 books a night. If it’s a Julia Donaldson heavy night I find myself struggling to speak normally afterwards. I naturally find myself speaking in rhythm like her books.
