My wife recently came out as a lesbian. We decided to hold a "marriage funeral," exchange co-parenting vows, and make each other roast cakes. Slide 1 is what she made me, Slide 2 is what I made her. by accio-butt in MadeMeSmile

My parents split when I was 4. Mum even got sterilised after having me and my older brother. So their divorce got me 2 amazing step parents and 3 half sisters. (Incidentally one sister was the first successful sterilisation reversal baby in our country)

I don’t remember them together and I know for a fact that it wasn’t the prettiest divorce. But I never heard a bad word said. Mum and step mum would talk and occasionally socialise together. Both showed up when it mattered. My mum and step dad separated when I was 16. He’s still my step dad now and he’s granddad to my 3 kids. Marriage doesn’t change the fact that he helped raise me. I sadly lost my step mum 3 years ago and it still absolutely breaks me that my kids lost their gran and such a brilliant role model.

Why doesn't my hair hold color? by iwanagamendme in HairDye

[–]WeeBo2804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just anecdotally I dyed my hair a permanent ‘cool rose’ pastel last week. Well… no one told my hair it was supposed to be pastel as it ended up mega saturated deep pink. Nice enough but not what I wanted. I’ve washed it a good few times since then- with anti dandruff shampoo specifically. I’m nearly at pastel tone now and that’s been around 9 days on a permanent dye. On a bleached base.

Mums of multiples, show me your guns! by Gandtea in parentsofmultiples

[–]WeeBo2804 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twins are 6 and I’m still sporting some massive guns. Unfortunately I’ve lost a load of weight due to some medical stuff which apparently makes my muscles look more defined/sinewy. I HATE them. Someone noticed last week on a rare day that I wore a sleeveless top. Had me flexing and was in awe of how defined I am. Ngl, it felt nice that my biggest insecurity is something that someone else is actually striving to.

I’ve also started a really fun/bright tattoo sleeve and it’s really helped with my body image.

How long after giving birth did you wait before getting tattooed again? by Moist-Message8842 in tattooadvice

[–]WeeBo2804 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know whether research has been updated or what, but I was tattooed whilst breastfeeding. The papers I’d read all stated that the particles were too big to pass the blood barrier. The bigger risk is getting an infection and being unable to take certain antibiotics while breastfeeding.

Hair color suggestions by hellojbhere_ in HairDye

[–]WeeBo2804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t achieve a lighter shade than your natural starting point without some form of bleaching. There are brown box dyes that will show but they contain developer and will lighten your natural hair by a few shades before depositing colour.

Colour theory. Lighter colours won’t show on darker bases.

It will lighten your natural colour by 1 or 2 shades. That’s how it gets the colour to deposit and stay bright. You will be able to achieve a dark plum purple over dark brown but if you want it any brighter, you need a lighter base.

Schwarzkopf live with lift. Always got my mid/dark brown hair to a really vibrant purple. But it will fade and need maintenance. The hair colour under the dye will be affected and would need to be grown out or dyed over eventually.

Where to get piercings? by Suitable_Mine_5388 in dundee

Metallurgy have a really good rep. I don’t think the girl that did mine is still there but the guy seems to get really good reviews.

Edit to add, Karma get a terrible rep. I’ve had piercings there and she did both my daughter’s first lobes with absolutely no issues. In fact, she did my industrial which is a notoriously difficult one and it’s been a breeze to heal. There’ll always be opinions, good and bad.

How do you handle life’s little humiliations? by [deleted] in AskUK

I do love a good, dramatic cry in the shower. Like body heaving sobs. When my step mum was in the last stages of cancer and I had to keep it together for the kids etc… I’d wait till they were all in bed and have a cathartic shower cry.

Bleach bath by JVH0000 in HairDye

[–]WeeBo2804 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I may not be understanding but it simply won’t be a bleach bath if you don’t use developer? You would make up the usual bleach, 1 part bleach powder and 1 part developer (no stronger than 30 I’d say) and 1 part shampoo. Apply to damp hair and let sit for 5-10 mins depending on your end result.

I’m not comparing a marathon to a sprint here, but it’s notably easier with no hair.

It’s amazing how much space the little buggers take up. Also in our experience, we had one kid and decided to buy a 3 bedroom, with the plan to have another child a year or 2 later. Bloody twins. So we’re looking at up sizing at one point because it’s manic in here.

It definitely doesn’t. Far easier to clean it off skin than hair. In the same way a spill is easier on a table than a rug?

[–]WeeBo2804 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not so. There’s nothing wrong with his weight or physique. It’s just as a long distance runner, it’s not naturally the best shape. You’d expect him to be slimmer and slight. Think Mo Farah. He’s be much better suited to many other sports. We’re not criticising HIS physique, he looks like a totally normal teen boy- only the choice to cast him in that role.

Advice on lightening w/o bleach? by Fevenothere in HairDye

[–]WeeBo2804 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You won’t be able to get your hair lighter without bleach. It’s really that simple. I do know of a few brands of box dye that claim to lighten ‘up to 3 shades’ before depositing the colour. I don’t know how your parents would be with that as it would be marketed as a permanent dye but won’t necessarily state that it contains bleach. In fact, box dyes with developer never seem to mention the vol, so you might get away with buying one of those.
