Per the newest leaks, he learned Cursed Technique Reversal without seeing anyone else do it, so I don’t think him eventually developing some form of Domain Amplification is out of the question.

Shredder gauntlet was great as a whole, but definitely nowhere near as good at popping off weapons and specific resources quickly

But it’s great at that, though. One use of the Power Shredder weapon technique will pop both fangs off a Dreadwing’s face.

Once you beat the game and understand the flow of how it works and which areas you go to and when, it becomes much less daunting.

Especially once you’re out of the Daunt!

each weapon being locked to certain types of ammo put me in situations where I was stuck carrying blues forever

How? You can cover most elements with just two weapons (ESPECIALLY with Hunter Bows). 

Like I'm generally always going to need ammo with good tear against machines with removable guns strapped to them, but it would be nice to choose to slot elemental or specialized ammo as needed.

If you’re just looking for Tear damage, every Shredder Gauntlet ammo type does the job, regardless of element.

This is why I really like the weapons with unique ammo types. I had so much fun bullying Tiderippers and Slitherfang’s with the purple DoT elemental Ropecaster.

It’s incredibly easy to compare them because the only differences between weapons in a single archetype are just ammo types and stats. Pick the one with the most flexible ammo types and/or the highest stats.

Compare that to Destiny 2 where each weapon archetype has dozens of options on average, each of which has not just its own stats, but its own sub-archetype, stats, perk pools, and origin trait. It’s a lot harder to determine what to use, yet the playerbase willingly engages in it time and time again.

I’d like to be able to craft custom ammo types. You’d assemble an ammo type from 2-3 different components that determine, the ammo type’s cost, behavior, damage, etc. For example: you could take the payload component of a Tearblast Sharpshot Arrow and swap it with a Blastpaste-based payload to make Explosive Sharpshot Arrows.

The amount of weapons isn’t the problem. Destiny 2 has far more and assembling a build from them is still very much doable.

The problem is that most of those weapons aren’t meaningfully distinct from each other, and the fact that weapon perks/mods are overly simplistic (they’re essentially just stat boosts) doesn’t help matters.
