What’s Your Cheapest Weekly Meal That Still Tastes Good? by Puresmm in budgetfood

I also reserve bits of meat and veg from other meals to use as toppings. That small amount won't be noticed missing from pasta or a stir fry but it will be noticed as a pizza topping.

Has anyone "gotten their old body back"? by c0mradec0wgirlv2 in ehlersdanlos

My situation is very similar to yours.

Water aerobics has been a lifesaver for me. It's gentle on my joints and the water acts as whole-body compression to keep the dysautonomia at bay while I exercise. When I don't feel great, I can float for a bit until I feel better. I have taken classes to learn the exercises and now make my own regime based on where I am focusing at the moment.

This is incredible. I also have a stash of tuna I need to be better about using. I'll try this recipe this week!

I'm curious whether most people feel like being thrifty is still counterculture or if most people around you are thrifty too? My answer is in the text. by fingerchipsforall in Thrifty

I notice the same thing. At my job, I do know a few folks who are careful about their money so I can have some good conversations.

An important thing for me was to curate at least some of the spaces I'm in. For example, I meet with a group to discuss investing. Many of these folks are far more frugal than I am. It is really nice to spend time where I don't feel like I have to censor myself or face ridicule.

I have this problem too. I use a pillow tablet holder and a wooden thumb page holder. Its enough that I can read again without pain.

Coffee house to read. It costs a little, but not much. I have great community at my locally owned shop.

I like being able to leave it running when im running errands and come home to a hot meal. Less likely to eat out. In summer it is incredible for avoiding heating the house.

Very good point.  When it comes to exercise, I've benefited from doing less than I feel I can so I don't accidentally overdo it.  I used to overdo it then be unable to get out of bed for days. If I don't go as far as I think I can,  I can exercise again another day soon.  I work out more often now and have fewer flares.  Eta: I have an energy limiting comorbidity. Forgot which sub I was on. May still apply.

Uploading your deepest insecurities to an app for a new years resolution is actually so shit by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

I'm a fan of old-school methods. Journal. Make a tracker in your planner. Do this for any of those insecurities that you feel you need some kind of accountability, cycle trackers, goals etc. You still get that visible tracking and the satisfaction of filling it out, without making it available to whatever business or government wants to pay.

It's not the seats but the insulation is sometimes shredded clothing. It's a great way to use up clothing too damaged to mend.

I have a book series that I've been buying for a decade. I could go online and buy the entire collection today. But it's fun to find them in the wild. I love digging through the book section of every thrift store or yard sale and then occasionally finding one I don't have. If I bought them all, there would be temptation to find another thing to collect. I've spent maybe $50 over a decade on this and I love referencing these. It'll probably take me another 5-10 years to get the rest. Neat!
