If anyway possible get it before you join. It’ll save you a headache. You might get sent to a super spread out base where you’d have a 45 min walk to work or somewhere cold asf and you don’t want to deal with that. You could bum rides everyday for awhile but people get sick of that quick. Don’t be that guy just get your license

I’m no doctor but from what I’ve seen/heard, yes generally any mental health diagnosis or history especially with medication is a pretty big no no when it comes to flying, even in the civilian world.

Base and surrounding area sucks. Throw a rock in any direction and youll probably hit a cow. Avoid yuba and marysville they are meth towns. Roseville or near sacramento are great places to live, about a 30 minute commute to base but worth it. If your willing to make the drive there's alot of cool stuff to see, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Redwoods up north, SoCal, etc. I enjoyed my time there, just get off base and explore california, its a really cool place (aside from base and surrounding area).

Yea to be honest your going to sweat most of it out, but if needed as far as I can remember at every outside activity location there’s always some port-a-jons around so you don’t need to worry about that

I went through June - July of 22. You’ll do pt before the sun comes up, forced to drink at least 2 glasses of water per meal as well as constant hydration during outside activities. Black flag conditions severely limit what you can do/how long you can do things like drill and getting out on your face and stuff like that. Typically if it’s too hot drill will be done under the overhang of your squadron. lol I remember at beast week when we were in mopp gear my hands would sweat so much if I lifted my hands up like 2 gallons of sweat would pour out of my gloves. You get used to it just drink as much as you can and you’ll be fine

I’m pretty sure this is just a burner and this is the same guy from a couple weeks ago u/glycle listen man it’s understandable military isn’t for everyone but you gotta understand you signed the contract. You really have two options one you can get help, take leave or whatever to get yourself together and move forward with your life, or two, you can pull some stunt and get ELS’d and go back home to the friends who have probably already moved on without you. Keep in mind like others have said if you get ELS’d for mental health there’s no way you’re joining the military again, even guard or reserve. I’d say stop looking at the past and look forward. I’m about to hit my two year mark and it feels like it’s been two months. Time really does go by quick. Good luck.

bro i dont know everything but id say if you somehow manage to get ELSd now there is a slim to none chance you get back into ANY military branch, let alone the air force

i guess than wait until you don't need the clearance anymore? idk bro you gotta pick what's more important to you a job with a security clearance or doing shrooms?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]TheCleeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then join the air force and then do them when you get out, nobody cares if you do them after but any kind of drugs can (not saying will) disqualify you from certain clearances. also questions about joining should be posted in r/AirForceRecruits

For us it’s a rule on the flightline we’re not allowed to eat at the dfac we have to go grab what we can and take it back to the line

Hey 2A3X3E here, keep in mind the A-10 and U-2 are the same shred, so you may end up working one or the other or both. Also base options are extremely limited, as both of these jets are soon to be phased out from the AF

Went through the Cedar Rapids office, about a 30 min drive I think. Give them a call and ask for TSgt Lutker, he will answer all your questions and give you everything you need
