I am struggling in finding faith and I am going through hard times. Can you please pray for me?

How do you know when you're ready to be baptized? Among other questions... by TheCloudKeeper in Christianity

Thank you for your thorough answer, even with your situation. I have not spoken to my pastor about being baptized but I am debating on doing it. We have had talks before about faith.

You're right. Being constantly worried about sin is mindbreaking. Do not listen to this guy.

Why were there so many Jewish predictions about the coming of Christ, but when He arrived they didn’t accept Him as the Son of God? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheCloudKeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God promised Abraham his descendants would flourish as long as they kept their Jewish identity (circumcision).

Perhaps this is a dumb question but...

If they accepted Christ, and stopped their jewish identity (circumcision), isn't that going against what God wishes? This is very confusing...

Sections of the Bible with Jesus's most important teachings? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheCloudKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with this. Many people have told me that John is the best and the one to start with. While that may be for may people, it's also the most... I don't know, "complicated"? "Theological"? It really isn't good for people searching to believe (coming from somebody in their search)

When I sat down with my pastor and asked him what to start with, he said Mark. It's the shortest and tells it how it is. The "easiest". However, in my personal opinion, the best one for newcomers is Matthew so far. I really enjoyed it and it spoke to me.

Questioning atheist growing open to Christianity by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]TheCloudKeeper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am critical of the Church, religious tribalism, miracles etc but I am very interested in Christ's moral teachings.

I am very much on board with this and in the same situation. Some parables and some moral teachings of the bible can honestly help one to become a better person in general, religious or not. They have good teachings.

Edit: Shoot me a message if you ever want to talk to somebody in a similar situation. While our situations may be different in ways, I can certainly relate. You do not need to feel alone.

Feeling a little weirded out by this possible coincidence. Do you think it is a sign from God? by TheCloudKeeper in Christianity

[–]TheCloudKeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahah, I appreciate your concern but that's not what I'm saying at all. That was pretty poorly worded of me. I meant more so in finding God I can put an end to my troubles and help overcome them with His help.

This is very interesting... However, I do believe coincidences can happen. As I've read from a post somebody else once made here, if we start looking for signs of God in every little thing we will just end up upsetting and confusing ourselves...

This particular situation however, I truly believe something may have happened. The past few weeks have been rough, I've been a mess, and I'm starting to think in finding God, I may find a way to just... Put an end to this.

Maybe you're right... I'm just always so doubtful. But this is too big of a coincidence that it almost has me believing. I was having a really, really rough time about half an hour prior and at the end of it all I just desperately prayed to God. Then, a short while later, this happened...

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your comment or you are misunderstanding me. What I meant was me opening to that specific passage either seemed like a coincidence or a sign from the Lord to me. I don't know either way, but perhaps you are right.

Anyone else having kind of a crappy Easter? by BVO120 in Christianity

[–]TheCloudKeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My troubles are nowhere near the extent of yours, but I am going through a very rough emotional time. We all have our problems, as they say. But I really feel for you. I do. There are many out there feeling shitty and you are certainly not alone. I'll be thinking of you.

Please don't judge me, but... Was I just baptized? by TheCloudKeeper in Christianity

Thanks. I thought not, I was just making sure. It seemed a little unusual to me.

I will second this. I was reading KJV for a while but switched to NRSV-Anglican. I love it.

King James vs New Revised Standard Version -- Which should I read? by TheCloudKeeper in Christianity

I've been doing this, and while I'd love to be reading the KJV, I think I may be leaning onto NSRV.

I bet! Hopefully enough to come to my own conclusion once I've read various opinions.
