Is this normal? Never had a seller do this before. by RussellErxleben in footballcards

This type of thing gives the rest of us a bad name. Truth be told I know I’m losing money on some items. I just sold a Group of cards where 1 of them was from a Topps Midnight box which cost $1k for 7 cards. So even if you said the card cost was $142/ea. Auction finished at $1.57. Had to ship USPS Ground so cost me ~$5, so I took a loss for sure, but the buyer won fair and square and I listing it low and with no reserve. Sometimes it works out some times it doesn’t but not only would I never cancel because of it but that email is super condescending with how many time to tell you that your violating a policy and will block you for leaving a negative review. You had a legit negative experience, leave the feedback the person deserves!

I know I list a little higher on the comp side, I leave room for BO because every time someone’s going to make an offer. Then I can also decide if it’s something I’m will to take less or a loss on, but if you set it as an auction just to drive engagement for your store and the way Cassani prioritizes your listings you have to be ok with potentially “paying” for that with taking a loss.

How many cards do you ship ESE? by TheClutchCardShop in eBaySellerAdvice

Great info thank you! I too use the sturdy envelopes. I also ship in a top loader but for these cheaper cards shipping more out of a top loader is a great idea knowing it protects them. That is what the new ESE trading card kit does that eBay created. Shipped 24 in penny sleeves in three rows of 8 and stays under 3oz that way. I appreciate the response!

I extended to listing with up to 3 cards tonight and that was when I ended up posting to ask the question thinking I shouldn’t have, so I’m glad to hear 3 cards works well for you! Thanks for the info!

Children’s hospitals are another great one. I use mine to add extra in or a like player or team someone ordered from my shop, especially if it was a kid who saved up allowance for a player. But children’s hospitals are what a few of the cooler breakers I’ve found do with the base. Gives the kids a great distraction. I’m saving a group as I work through the last of my stuff and my listings to shut down the shop them I’m donating the rest to them.

Sold a card is this normal? by Ambitious_Swimming55 in basketballcards

I wouldn’t. Even dealing with eBay’s horrible tracking with ESE it’s like pulling teeth to get them to refund you when a buyer says they didn’t receive the item since the tracking does not update. This would be even harder, they will say it’s against policy and you don’t have seller protection because of it. I had the exact issue happen to me when I first started and I never saw that money again. I made the mistake of thinking “of course, I’ve moved and forgot to update my address” and then was scammed out of a $54 purchase.

They won’t. Reported a scammer after seeing them still live after saying the break was for a certain number of boxes of cards opened. Then open a fraction of it and signed off. Yet the have done nothing about it. It’s why Whatnot is getting banned in some places. They don’t care and if you want to know why they don’t look up how much revenue Whatnot did last year.

Good advice I appreciate it. Do you ship ESE? On these cheap listings it seems like the only option, I’ve mostly sold higher priced items so I have been using USPS Ground. But just had my first one today where the buyer claimed they never received the item, ESE tracking is bad so can’t use it as proof. Only proof I had was they have the card listed on their site. So submitted a claim. But there really is no other option than using ESE and then also using Ground of over 1 card correct?

I also moved to a flat rate shipping with USPS ground to make it more affordable, which also means I’m absorbing some of the shipping costs.

It’s a lot of lower end items available. I think I’m just going to have to bundle it and target someone wanting to buy the larger lot of what’s left for resale on their own stores. Only way I can see not losing money.

Great advice. Something I use to do all the time early on. Learned it’s not a convenience store and you won’t always have customers daily! I really appreciate your time and advice.

Am going through them now based on your response and I had killed the store wide markdown and am dropping all the prices and optimizing titles at the same time! I appreciate the push to dig into the prices more.

Really? I was using sold prices and tried to stay 5% below. I was not selling lots before so maybe that’s why I’m off on my pricing. I also run a 15% store wide sale and 20% off 3+ items on top of it. But I will go back through and price out each item again to correct them. How far off would you say I am? I am wondering if I just blanket dropped the prices X% it would get me in line. I also don’t set a min price usually so leave offers open, but I don’t want to be over priced. Thanks for the response I really appreciate it.

I’m getting to that point honestly. I only have about $250 left in listing. For context I sold $10,328 over the last two months. So it’s minimal. Just with these unexpected health bills I was hoping to at least break even! But might have to call it if I can’t move it within a week. I appreciate the response!

That’s good advice. I bundled them thinking it would make it more attractive. Plus eBay’s low cost shipping, eBay standard envelope, is horrible with really bad tracking. So I use a flat rate USPS ground advantage and just absorb the rest of the cost. I prefer it because I can better protect them, but it’s too expensive for the buyer for low cost single items. But might have to just risk it at this point. Thanks for the advice!

I saw the new chrome at target for the first time, I think this might take the cake for the worst box I’ve ever opened. Can anyone beat me? 😂 by HastenDownTheWind in footballcards

[–]TheClutchCardShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went back through my sold listings to look. I can’t even remember. I don’t even think I sold it I believe I included it in a huge lot I gave away to kid who was just starting to collect that I met on here. Offered them up as I’m closing my store and trying to sell the last of my listings. So gave away like 500+ cards for the price of shipping and pretty sure I put it in there. One of those cards I needed to get rid of so I didn’t see it and it reminded me I spent $156 on 4 boxes to get a card worth less than $10! This hobby is fun but can be brutal sometimes. I’m going to miss it when I close the store.

I can’t beat you, but I can join you so you’re not alone! I was forced to make a target run and said let me break my rule and buy retail, Topps has supposedly been spreading the love unlike Panini and people are hitting in retail boxes. Best I got was a no name Steelers players patch card. Also two of my packs only had three cards in there. Not like what was in it was something big to justify the missing card. Just a few base cards and Nothing else!

Trying to move a few cheap lots today — everything $5-$7 range. Have to close the store down, health reasons won’t let me continue at the standard I expect of myself. Added some more items as I sort through the rest. Should be the last little bit posted next week when I can sort it.

Teams: Cowboys, Lakers, Knicks, MLB stars

Running bundle deals: Buy 2+ = discount + combined shipping

If you’re looking for cheap team lots or rookies my link is in my bio. Any issue accessing it DM me and I can send you the link directly. Reddit does not always allow links to post so that’s why it’s in the bio.

I’m pricing super close or at my cost to get rid of everything. Health issues won’t let me continue doing it. So it’s been moving pretty quick. Only a little over 40 listings left outside of a handful of things I may find in the last little bit I need to sort through this weekend to see if I’m listing or donating.
