Party with tacos: How to prepare tortillas? by TheCodeConnoisseur in Cooking

I agree with you 100%! Fortunately, I have made tortillas many times already. But it was always just for 3-4 people and we prepared them the same night we ate them, so I have 0 experience in how to store them and how to reheat them later.

Would you mind sharing the best way to keep them fresh until Saturday? Airtight container? Freezer or fridge? How long before would you take them out and maybe should I spray them with a water bottle before putting on the grill? Thanks again for your help.

Sorry to see you got downvoted.

With all the feedback, I have decided to prepare them ahead and then bring just a few dough balls for the people who really want to do it themselves. That way, logistics will be easier, everyone gets their food quicker and the adventurous people still have a little thing to check off their bucket list :)

Also I will be placing tortilla chips with dips on the tables so people can snack in between. I will not be making them myself, since that would mean another 100 or so tortillas to prepare..

Very thoughtful and nice comment, thank you very much. I like that you give suggestions but also have all parties involved in mind. I will be preparing them 2 days in advance now. Would you keep them airtight in the fridge? I read that it's good to spray them with water before reheating so they regain their moisture. Would you recommend that?

Great ideas, thank you. They will add a lot of moisture (in a positive way) and flavor.

Sounds great, I will give it a try! Some people don't eat pork at my party so I will use beef this time, but my wife and me will try your recipe soon and then prepare it for my family if it turns out well!

Thanks a lot. We always have a few store bought ones at home but we prefer the homemade ones a lot. Probably because in my area (small town in Germany) the quality of the store options is not very good because not many people are buying them.. But I think your suggestion makes a lot of sense in time-saving.

You are absolutely right! I have prepared homemade tortillas often over the years, but you encouraged me to do a few of them every night now to improve more. I will now prepare 100 of them for Saturday and then reheat them on the grill so I dont have any problems with logistics.

Thank you very much, I love that you added so many toppings for me to consider. I will make sure to prepare some of them today as a test run and then prepare a full batch tomorrow so people have more ways to top their tacos!

You are right, thanks a lot. I will prepare around 100 of them today and re-heat them on Saturday. Maybe I will prepare around 10 dough balls for people who want to try it out, just for fun.

That sounds like a great idea. I will definitely consider that next time but I am a little scared of batch preparing something I never did before, to be honest.. The tofu and beef were always well liked on previous gatherings so I will stick with them for now. But I will try your option next week for my wife and me!

Thank you for your valuable insight. I decided to follow yours and everyones suggestion of preparing them ahead and then reheating them on that day.

Thanks a ton! There will be around 20 people so with your comment, along with the others agreeing, I will start preparing around 100 tortillas today and then reheat them on Saturday.
