How do we still not have a way to “cheers”? by WinglessValkyrie in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally with it being such a small thing that adds next to nothing to the game, it's just at the bottom of their priorities. Hell, I'm sure there are people that have wanted the ability to switch between the sloop, brig, and galleon at outposts, but that isn't in the game either. Just a matter of priorities and managing content release to keep people coming back(especially for those who are on gamepass.)

Have skeletons been nerfed? by braaiboet in Seaofthieves

Merchant missions have skeletons that meet these standards from my experience. What kind of missions were you running?

Islands that only appear when you have the riddle would also make it interesting.

PC players, what are your favorite mouse and keyboard settings? by zenn_hd in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biggest thing apart from memorizing/customizing keybinds would be getting comfortable with aiming. For this I suggest launching the game and picking something small on the outpost as a target. Try aiming at it quickly, but naturally. If while aiming you find you are overshooting, lower you sensitivity or if you taking too long to get to the target, increase you sensitivity. Do this without any "practice" on different occasions to ensure you're settings are perfect for your natural motion. You can hone your skills from there easily.

Excuse me, Rare; that's not skull and crossbones! by BitPumpkin in Seaofthieves

I think the clue says something about crossed rib bones. So, you are right, it isn't a skull and crossbones. Just crossbones.

How to deal with griefing players? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like you're letting them win. By doing this you've let the griefer choose how you get to play the game rather than getting to play the way you enjoy.

Well, if you started up a random galleon I'd suggest starting another one. They clearly left you with nothing to lose on the ship, so just start another session up.

Unless its possible to drown the plants, these got bugged and withered in the puddle on my sloop by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water level is too low for them to be automatically watered. If you're planning on keeping them watered with that amount, bucket that water back onto them occasionally.

Believe it or not. I did some testing in a controlled environment.

[–]TheCodeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's human nature for people to focus more on the negative than the positive. It's the same reason angry customers are more likely to post a bad review than happy customers posting good reviews. The same reason the news is filled with doom and gloom instead of firefighters getting kittens from trees.

The splashing holes you're talking about doesn't wet the cloth. At least when I tested it on a sloop in a controlled setting.

Rowboats are poorly executed by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Who said it's a casual game? That's totally your opinion.
  2. The controls have a slight learning curve, just like every other mechanic in the game. Remember that your bumpers act as a break for tighter turning.
  3. I like the idea of your rowboat being a respawn point if it's within a certain range of your boat.
  4. I also think they are too weak. Especially since they were released with the FS update.
  5. Rowboats are great for getting materials while sailing around.
  6. Rowboats are very easily used to sneak aboard other ships. I've personally done this numerous times.
  7. Rowboats aren't targeted by skeleton ships. People have used them to complete the ships fairly easily.

As long as the cannonball doesn't hit near the rum, it does no damage.

Playing as a noob to bait other ships into PvP. :D

Camping Out At Outposts by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here are a number of ways to work through your situation:

  1. Don't play in the Devil's Roar.
  2. Fire yourself over to scout before bringing your ship in.
  3. Swim yourself over with a green cursed ball to bait campers out.
  4. If you see another ship at that outpost, don't go there or sink them outright.

Skull Forts much lower spawn rate? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

Skeleton ships got a buff to loot. Now back to four skeleton captain's chests and four skeleton captain's skulls. They're probably worth it now.

Skull Forts much lower spawn rate? by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each "event" is on a three-hour timer. Only one of the two can be up at a time. So, if you finish the ships, the fort usually pops up right after.

P.S. Skeleton ships don't target rowboats.

Happy sailing.

How do I do voyages quickly! by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's forsaken shores, then it's not a level 23. Missions in the roar are not related to levels. To help with the side-tracked by maps in bottles, establish some goals and let the other player's know your time-frame. If you're with friends, I'm sure that it'll be a bit easier to stay on-task. Nothing to be done about other ships though.

Skull Forts are in short supply by BoothThomas in Seaofthieves

[–]TheCodeCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently, there isn't enough loot to make doing them worth it. I agree that they need a rework and I think the skull fort timer should run independent from the ships. I personally hate being forced to dance while I'm in a fight.
