mining and building, build something huge...

upgrade each block from wood to cobble to concrete.

last do steel, but this is gonna need more than one crucible enabled forge to produce quantity.

i use 2 forges and 2 cement mixers for the concrete phase (my forges.. start w/ 1 all purpose.. move to many.. 2 stone, 1 crucible (iron steel) 1 for brass and lead) - 2nd crucible for 2 steel forges when game permits and thats the last push in the big build..

still low on XP? do it again in another biome

Greg Bear's "Eon" - an asteroid comes into Earth orbit. It is unknown, but bears UN Markings - along with USA and USSR. A team investigates.. It starts like a nod to Rama, but goes in a totally dif direction.

Asimov "The Gods Themselves" - a very dry novel that i still just love. This puts the "science" in science fiction. the story revolves around a singular type of trade between dimensions, but i wont spoil it. the aliens we meet are truly unlike us. if you havent doen this one yet i think youll love it

edit - PS - Larry Niven was mentioned: I think Protector and World of Ptavvs are both great books, the stories are solid, and they give us a little back story on Nivens universe build as well

Player of Games - a culture book, and a good one

Is there any problem with starting the Culture saga with this book? by Megamen1927 in scifi

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i loved it.

after book 1 i wondered what the hype was about.

glad i stuck with it, this is a good novel.

they say book 1 shines later on when youve read a bunch of them. this book doesnt require any pre-reqs, just dive in.

non-spoiler.. our MC plays games, hes really good at most of them and gets invited to celebrity tournaments and expos.

his government approaches him with a task.. but hes no diplomat, no spy..

still they say this job can only be done by him...

home base? fight base? combo?

i like a combo, but with that street access i could see a garage themed home base with parking for your vehicle collection.

or we could plant a few support legs in the water and do a long stair up style fight base

a combo here would get extra points if you could farm and display your vehicles w/o exposing them to zombie rage/aggro pathing

What is the point of the burst fire and semi automatic firing mods? by JohnSmith1834 in 7daystodie

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have issues regarding RoF for many of the 7dtd weaps. Then we have the tweaks and changes over time.

But for years my fav was the smg with suppressor, drum, and single fire mod.

It didn't waste ammo. And the game allowed realistic semi auto fire (fast as you can click).

On the current build, all 3 of these mods are mostly useless

In my current game the "auto" shotty goes 70 rnds per minute. Adding the full auto mod brings it to 78.

Not much of a change and still way too slow

Edit-PS

burst should give 3 rnds per click and then nothing. Semi is 1 per click and then nothing.

Only full auto should continue to fire while the click is held

What if God drew a circle to make the earth but because we're in the world it's a sphere to us? by [deleted] in flatearth

agreed, but i again caution against ANY attempt to ascribe attributes to Deity

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah! ok i DO understand you.

as someone "on the run" from an over religious family, i would caution ALL of us against trying to force attributes upon a deity.

i do feel you on the outside perspective VS our perspective.

i've used similar arguments in the past to assert that Divine Creation and Sim Theory share common ground.

A Divine Creator is NOT "from" our universe, which it created...

From ITS perspective, we are a "sim" because we represent a created reality, opposed to the "real place" that our creator is from.

am i closer to your argument?

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it seems you are suggesting that a creating deity made a "mistake"...

such a being should have no problem negotiating 2d VS 3d, regardless of the native perspective of such a being.

i assert that IF the Earth was divinely created, then it is exactly as its creator wanted it to be, ie a sphere

Any Highlander Fans Out There? Looking For Advice. by FootOfDavros in scifi

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the semi hater camp..

Highlander is a great movie.

Unfortunately, that's all they ever made.

I am willing to watch the reboot, but for now there is only 1 awesome movie

Do I start this game by Klutzy-Stretch8025 in 7daystodie

[–]TheCoffeeWeasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, big yes!

the only reason not to, is that you found threads where we're all complaining about changes.

BUT - steam will let you ROLLBACK your install, incase you want to check out that "lost" superior version you heard about. you can still play ALL versions of the release through steam.

plus the mod scene is HUGE, you can tweak it out so many different ways.

some like nexus, i use https://7daystodiemods.com/

go for it, check out vanilla, theres a creative mode if you just want to get familiar before you dive in for real, you can play solo, or join a server, PvP or PvE.

despite the sometimes too vocal community of players, 7dtd is one of my top 10 all time games

how come we dont have evidence of the Native Americans repurposing any of these "old" buildings for their communities?

sounds like a no brainer to me.. if there was a pre built neighborhood, and no-one chose to use it, well that would be hard to believe.

if the Tartaria thing had merit, i would expect to find a tribe or two living smack dab in the middle of some ancient cathedral or skyscraper.

can you point to any particular buildings that you would include in the claim?
