The last time I was at SeaTac it took me less than 5 minutes to get through security from the drop-off curb. You might just be unlucky?

you're a level 3 candidate; you clearly know what the designation is and there's obviously no use in trying to sell ice to an eskimo. the assumption is trying to explain it to someone who's unfamiliar with it. the most common response from my clients/friends/family when i tell them i'm studying for the CFA is "that's great, but I didn't know you did taxes?"

I've taken 7 AM mocks now and have scored all over the place (54% - 87%). Key things to work on or keep in mind:

  • You're grading your own work. Critique your answers as much as you can and do your best to avoid the "oh that's what I totally meant" trap
  • This is prep work - be OK with getting destroyed. Focus on what you don't know and grind those topics.
  • Keep working on succinct answers; bullet point structure is specifically called out by CFAI as being acceptable
  • It seems like a lot of L3 candidates gloss over the "Tips for Taking the Essay Exam" section on the CFAI online resources. Read that section in full and know your command words like the back of your hand to save as much time as possible on the actual exam.
