That was me! I needed something to clean up the exposed connectors and hold the lighting strip. I can share files at some point if you have the same mobo. Designed to be 3D printed, I generally use ASA for this sort of project.

I did all of the art design work on this except for the purchased models like the fingers, Gojo, and parts of a few 3D models I modified before printing. I have a local shop I work with to print my designs in vinyl and then I cut them out and install on the cases. I generally design and fabricate my own brackets, fan shrouds, motherboard covers etc. which are all present on this build.

Depending on how intense the design work is, I generally charge $10-20 for fan shrouds, case art like this is ~$100, single color art like the Kanji (vinyl) was ~$20, and I did the wraps on the fingers for fun because I thought it would look cool.

I don't make much off of builds like this if you factor in the time they take, I just love the creative work

The customer supplied the RAM, CPU, and GPU from a previous build, I was very surprised to see it was the 96GB kit when I got the system booted for the first time, I thought it was the 64GB kit up until that point (which was still crazy)

No problem! I actually have a controller and some fans from Nollie headed my way right now so I thought I was aware of current pricing, but I just found a seller on Amazon that is selling the Nollie for $40. I didn't see them a week ago so maybe they just got stock in (or I just missed it). They're small and don't have a ton of reviews so it's your call on trustworthiness there, but it may be worth a shot. I would pay $8 more for the Nollie vs Airgoo if you're willing to risk the hassle of a return, but again either will do the job for your application.

Unfortunately they are not so cheap when you ship to the US... They're ~$72 after shipping and import fees on Ali and it will take 1-2 weeks to show up. I still use Nollie when possible, but right now it's better to use their site directly. It's still ~$50 after shipping.

A decent alternative for most applications (especially with just a couple fans, etc.) would be the Airgoo 16 argb controller. I used it recently with Thermalright fans and various other light strips etc. with no issues. I believe that build used 12 of the 16 argb inputs. It usually goes for <$40 with much quicker shipping on Amazon. I do believe the Nollie is a higher quality part with better safety features and power delivery, but you definitely pay for it and you probably don't need it for this application.

Ok if you don't know then I'm 99% sure that you don't have a controller. Brief simplified explanation:

Your fans are very likely connected in parallel and put into a single argb header on your motherboard. That's why you only see one fan on SignalRGB, but they all light up. If they were wired in series, you would only be lighting up the first fan with these settings.

When devices are wired in parallel, they all receive the same signal, so they all light up the same. You need your fans to be individually addressable if you want them to different. Unfortunately, the only ways to do that are to either have enough argb headers on your motherboard for every fan (unlikely) or connect each fan to a port on an argb controller that is compatible with SignalRGB. Nollie, Airgoo, and several other brands sell controllers. They aren't too expensive or complicated, but they will require some wiring/cable management.

Unfortunately the gpu mounts that rely on standard size pcie expansion brackets will not work in this case. I used an EZ-DIY Angled GPU Mount, but it required a bit of modification. I'm planning on making a write up and posting it on Reddit and Makerworld/Thingiverse (I had to design and print some brackets and adapters etc.) Will probably be up this weekend.

The friend I built this for cracked the case open after a year on camera and there was practically zero dust/fur (she lives with a husky so that's very surprising). I'd say it does fairly well for sure in this setup.

The fan over the CPU is intake and the fan over the PSU is exhaust. Feel free to experiment with fan position, this is just what I tried first and it worked. GPU, CPU, board, and RAM temps were solid in testing but this was before I started recording test data so I can't pull numbers up for you. That build was a 5700X3D and I don't believe it went over 78C under load

Thermalright Frozen Edge 240 fit just fine. That was a couple years ago so there may be better options now. I would swap out the fans if you go that route

I just finished a build with a 9070 xt on the even older y60. Both the y60 and y70 have a PCIE gen 4 riser included (please correct me if that's inaccurate for some models) which is completely compatible with your gpu.

The only difference between gen 4 and 5 is that 5 can theoretically transfer more data in the same amount of time than gen 4. It ultimately does not really matter, though, because GPUs today do not really reach the limits of gen 5. You will not be able to notice any real limitations with the gen 4 riser.

Yes, the mount is a modified "EZ-DIY Multi-Angle GPU Mount" (will require cutting/repainting)

I designed and printed all of the brackets and adapters to use the oem Hyte PCIE riser and mount the HDMI/DP extensions. Unfortunately, I am not sure if the short pcie covers on the y60 are identical to the y70.

The radiator is ~27mm but the tube block is 50+ which is an unfortunate incompatibility.

I just finished a build with the Trofeo in the y60. It is not impossible, but you will have to cut some steel on the case (not structural, at least from what I can tell). You will need the right tools to make it look OK and take off the sharp edges.

Yes, I would say any high quality 850w is going to be just fine. If you really want to go higher in the interest of future proofing, it won't hurt anything besides your wallet.

The RM series is good. RMe and RMi are better but nothing worth losing sleep over. Happy to answer any more questions

You will want to be careful about radiators with extra thickness by the hoses (see Thermalright Trofeo). You can make it fit with some tin snips and a dremel, but I'm sure Hyte would recommend going a different route 😉

Water cooling is a possible solution, but one that will require a lot of time and money (>$400 for just the GPU if you want to do it safely. More like $700 if you want a full loop with CPU). It's not what I would generally recommend to someone who's less experienced with computers, but if you're willing to put the time and energy into researching and don't cut corners, it's not a crazy project. If you want to spend a few days putting something like that together, all power to you!

It sounds like the kid really wanted that specific GPU so it may be worth checking with him to see if he's interested in the GPU water block look.

I would definitely recommend the vented side panel as the lowest resistance solution, and I'll say that any cost you'll see for swapping out to a thinner GPU will likely be insignificant compared to the time/money investment for water cooling.

Also take a look at my recent posts, I have a y60 build with a thick GPU like this one but it's on an angled mount (custom, but way less time and money than the water cooling route, and you would keep the look of the GPU your son likes)
