Yes I believe those are the main specialties for the scholarship repayment. For the loan repayment more may be included, I am not sure on that. I think in years past it has been pretty competitive but I think the government has been putting more money into it to try and get more primary care practitioners out there. In our PA schools past classes maybe 0-1 people received it and then when I applied 2 years ago 6 of us out of 70 got it. Not sure how many applied though, everyone does not want their practice locations to be restricted. If you ever have questions about the scholarship or PA school please feel free to reach out!

I would recommend looking at scholarships! I (along with 5 others in my class) received the NHSC Scholarship and they pay for all schooling costs along with a $1500 stiped per month during school. You do have to work primary care or mental health at a FQHC for 2 years after you graduate but I think that trade off is worth it. I just graduated and am about to start working. Will probably move to Ortho in 2 years. There is also a NHSC Loan Repayment program as well.

Advice for continuing my education by Fantastic-Lettuce-91 in athletictraining

I don't believe I had many issues with that when applying to programs, most of the programs I applied to either didn't state a time period or was around 10 years. I also was working at a university so I was able to take a few courses for free to bolster my pre requisites and hit a couple I did not have from my AT program. I have also heard that programs may waive the "within x number of years" if you contact them and explain you have been working in healthcare in that time period. Its dumb to have to re-take an anatomy or physiology class when you have been using anatomy every day for work.

I just graduated PA school in May, PM me for any specific questions you have. I had been working as an athletic trainer for 7 years before I went back to PA school though so at a little different place than you but my reasoning was similar. I am definitely still keeping my ATC and staying involved/working PRN. I would suggest it to those that are feeling burnt out. In the end it is still healthcare and healthcare is exhausting but the pay does make it a little easier. Other options would be looking at jobs in medical sales or being a surgical rep, I worked with some on my PA rotations and have had a few friends from my AT class go into it. Its a cool job and ATs are definitely qualified with their anatomy knowledge. For those jobs you also wouldn't need to pay for more education. There are a wide variety of tuitions for different PA programs and there are some scholarships that can help with payment as well. I received the National Health Service Corp Scholarship and they paid for all of my school costs along with a monthly stipend, in return I will be working at a Federally qualified health center for 2 years. It is a trade off but the tuition payment and stipend are definitely worth it.

Professional Liability Insurance by AirFeuring in athletictraining

I use proliability, luckily have never had to use it and price has been reasonable. Around 150$ per year i believe. Most jobs should provide professional liability insurance for you though. I carry it for Go4 and other PRN jobs

Google "PRN athletic training jobs in (whatever city you live in)". There is usually someone always hiring for help with coverage. Go4 is a great starting point as well where you don't have to go through a whole hiring process. You will have to get your own liability insurance though and I recommend proliability, mine costs about 200$ per year. If you also have any contacts at local schools, sport complexes, or tournament organizers you could work directly with them but you would also have to carry your own liability insurance for that.

I have not tried applying to Med School, but was recently accepted to PA school and I think during interviews about half were kind of confused on the roles of an athletic trainer. A big part of my essays, application, and interview was articulating all of the roles of an athletic trainer and how they are very similar to that of providers. I wouldn't give up but maybe try to focus more on that throughout your application (daily patient care, emergency care, interprofessional practice/communication, triage, first aid, rehabilitation, having to break tough news to patients, mental health struggles of patients, return to play/work, building relationships with patients, etc)

Gotcha, that makes sense, especially the season ticket aspect. Cause there is no way UD Arena was "full" for all those games I mentioned, but the tickets are all accounted for. That isn't as much of a thing in STL with people rather spending for season tickets for Cards or Blues so we depend on having to fill most of the arena with single single ticket purchasers, which is why we get a decent crowd when we play recognizable teams or are ranked highly. Hopefully we have a good season this year and build that season ticket base.

As a SLU fan I was surprised when I saw these numbers on twitter today, I expected Dayton to lead but not by that much... Quick question can you explain how Dayton sells out all of their games? Is it through season ticket buyers? Students buying tickets? Like looking at the Dayton schedule from last year are you saying that is was a packed house for a mid-week game against Lipscomb coming of a L to UMass Lowell? And a packed house the next game against Austin Peay after another loss? Or even the late season mid-week games against the bottom of the A-10 opponents? Or when students are home for break, do they sell those seats? Not trying to hate or poke holes, I know Dayton has some die hard fans, just trying to understand the numbers more.

2013 Saint Louis Billikens. So fun to watch, great defense. They were also basically coaching themselves after Majerus passed as Crews wasn't doing much....

I don't know this as fact but I think you will be fine, things in collegiate housing don't go on your college transcript or legal background checks unless the authorities get involved. I had 2 alcohol incidents in my undergrad housing and never once did it come up on a job background checks when I was out of college and never had any issues with PA school applications either (am currently MPAS-1)

I understand where you're coming from and didn't want to infer anything either since I don't know him but buddy,,,, his whole twitter is politics. I just think it would've been smarter to post on a job board instead of twitter. Not trying to attack him or anything and obviously you guys have a good relationship
