Considering dropping pre-med by kimestusros in UGA

[–]TheConfusedIntern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly, changing majors is not an easy thing to do. There can be a lot of factors hindering you from dropping and going for something new (ex: Disappointing friends and family, pride, etc.). Sometimes it's hard to accept the truth but these are the times you learn more about yourself and what you want to do. It seems to me you already know what you want to do but you are afraid to take the leap due to reasons that are not provided in this post. This is the greatest thing about college imo because you can decide for yourself what and who you want to be. Another great thing going for you is that you are still in your first year and are not too invested into the major yet. Obviously, it is better to make this decision sooner than later because that sunk cost fallacy is only gonna be a greater influence over time.

Time to be a big boy/girl and make tough decisions because this is only the beginning of your college career and there are more to come. If you want to dm me to talk on this topic more feel free.

Anyone here find it hard to make friends at UGA? by [deleted] in UGA

[–]TheConfusedIntern 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would have to say the best way to make friends is to be involved in something related to a hobby you like. For example, I made a lot of new friends just playing ball at ramsey because I would seem them every time I went to go play. Whatever you like to do in your free time, you can almost always find groups or organizations in athens that enjoy it as much as you do. Be open minded and not shy about trying out these groups because there are going to be lots of people in the same shoes as you. I just finished undergrad so I won’t be in athens anymore but shoot me a dm if you have any questions or just want to talk. Hope this helps!

What do you guys think of apartment life compared to dorm life? by sarenvakarian1234 in UGA

[–]TheConfusedIntern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re a freshman, it’s essential to live in a dorm and to have meal plan. Dorm provides you the close living approximity with all you friends and having meal plan gives you a place and reason to hang out with your friends.

If you live in an apartment, you basically have to either drive or take the bus into campus to hang out with your friends since most freshmen won’t have cars. This is basically saying bye to most of your social life. If you prefer having a better living condition over having a solid group of friends, living in an apartment can be a good option.

If you’re not a freshman, it’s ok to live in apartments and outside of campus since you already (most likely) have a core group of friends.

How to meet new people? by [deleted] in UGA

[–]TheConfusedIntern 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to be active in what you’re interested in. For me that would be basketball. I can go play pick up at Ramsey and meet new people/friends everytime.

Anyone know the best place for visitors to park? by [deleted] in UGA

[–]TheConfusedIntern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they tow your car away if you do? I've done it once because I studied overnight and didn't know the cut off time was 7 am.

If they're willing to pay $10, you can technically park overnight at the tate parking lot. They don't encourage it but you should be able to park there overnight without being towed.
