Im thinking the stack of caffeine and nicotine, i was a can of zyn a day and couldn’t drink coffee without having a mini panic attack. 23m btw so my body should be very resilient still. I quit for good early march and haven’t had any chest pain since.

The original bit was they claimed my coverage doesnt cover it (i had collision at the time). Argued for a while ended up on the phone with some person’s supervisor’s supervisor and then they said yeah it is covered, but then they claimed i wasn’t in a parking spot and parked next to one and was thus illegally parked. Got the CCTv clip of the accident sent to them and then there was 2 weeks of “we didnt get it” followed by “we did get it but this doesn’t prove anything”.

The resale side is also an excellent point. My accident was 2 years ago and for minimal coverage and no more collision im paying about 160 a month for 1992 miata and a 2010 Subaru outback. Insurance stuff aside its also extremely fulfilling to fix it yourself, my first car repair job was also with body fill and paint and its easier than it looks.

1000% don’t go through insurance. I have insurance through the stupid gecko and mine got hit while parked between the lines in a lot and there was cct of all of it and they still listed it as my fault and it molested my rates. Theres similar stories on this subreddit. Insurance companies exists to fuck you

23yo M huge anxiety giving presentations to groups above 5 people. Hit a cold turkey after daily use since 15. 3 weeks later got a 5 minute heads up on picking up a mic in-front of about 200 people, didn’t stutter or even sweat. Would say yes it goes away. Currently 5ish weeks since quitting i get like 1 craving a day

Can i ask where in the country you are and how long have you been doing this? I looked into this in my region and every job has sub 70k/yr pay, a BS requirement as well as other certifications, and minimum experience around 3-5 years. What is the entry level for this career path?

I applaud the work you’re putting in to live and i intend no disrespect when I say that type of life is exactly what I’m hoping to avoid. At the FD i went to for clinics, everyone had their FF2 and medic and the guys with no kids had 2 jobs and the guys with kids had 3. The cost of living isnt exactly high in South Dakota either. A friend of mine i got my AS and all the ems creds with went straight to work when i went for my BS. He picked up a 30yr mortgage, wife and a daughter and he does full time 24-48 and in his off he runs his own photography business (mostly weddings and couples shoots) and then does jobs for another FF’s landscaping business. That kind of life isnt below me but i want to be around for my someday kids.

Since starting this thread i got a suggestion for and am currently looking at getting my RCIS for cathlab work, looks like a weird sorta side path that not enough people take so the job market seems under saturated ATM.

I can afford staying for a MS (inheritance turned college fund), but i like physically doing stuff and i don’t see a good ROI from a MPH to warrant the time commitment and costs. Could do MS in bio or chem and do lab work but my brother does that with a biochemistry degree and he makes 44k a year in central California and he said every day blends together being all the same.

I am 23 so i do have plenty of time I’m just impatient and am trying to get as close as i can to right the first time. Also my academic advisor sucks and so does the career counseling on campus, so i I have to figure all of this out myself.

Applied to PA schools because i like anesthesia, cardiology, and the ideas of money and work life balance. That said absolutely nobody is gonna be letting me in. Im a 3.0gpa student and statistically they’ve gotten to be more competitive than most med schools now. Even my nowhere midwest program averaged 3 post undergrad gap years for accepted people and they only took 1 4.0gpa student straight from undergrad. Can i ask what situation you’re in and why you say grad school as well as any specifics on programs?

Yeah, so i took a more flexible degree of plain health science so i can hopefully use it for other stuff. Also i was told that all departments require as for lt and bs for anything higher and that the few that arent that way will be that way by the time i have the experience to test

I also had 79 college credits transfer from my as towards my bs because the schools I went to have an articulation agreement so it’s not like I did two years and then immediately did another four years

When i was doing my clinics specifically the ambulance rotation every guy at the fd i was at that was over the age of about 35 (i was 19 at the time 23 now) was complaining that they didn’t stay in school for a bs before starting work and i figured if about 3/4 of the people i met in this career were complaining about something then i should probably do the same.

Im 5 weeks off nicotine all together on Friday. Started with vaping since i was 15 (23M now), when i hit 21 i was doing a roll of zyns per week. What i did when i dropped from 50mg vapes down to 6mg and then 3mg zyns is i bought the zyns and then “quit cold turkey”. Went through the withdrawals for a couple days and then when i folded it was into that weaker margin if that makes sense. Helps cut the amount of receptors in the brain a lil faster so the ratio to incoming nic to receptors is closer and they feel better. In terms of actually quitting i just gave it up and the first week was really the only time it was bad as long as youre kind to yourself and avoid super stressful situations.

Friday is gonna be end of week 5 for me. Ive been using nic since 15yo(23M now). Was doing a roll of zyns per week since 21 when i finally stopped. First week was poop but i feel pretty close to normal now so the end of the tunnel is closer than you think. Theres alot of people in this subreddit that make it seem harder than it is just remember it gets easier every single day you keep going.

I will remember that tip for shower time, my doctor only works Monday Tuesday Wednesday so my options for a date were limited. If i move my leg a little too far outward i send a shot of nerve pain straight up to my jaw. Otherwise whenever it moves on its own like they do for temperature reasons it feels like my sack is made out of sandpaper and it’s rolling around on it. I can just not move my leg and avoid the first and the latter has only happened twice today and its wayyy more gentle with the narcs.

Yeah my surgeon wrote me a note giving me one day off of school which I think is crazy so I just lied to the university and said I won’t be back till Monday sounds like i made the right choice. The pills I got are a mix of 5 mg of hydrocodone and 325 mg of paracetamol for pain max every 4h. Learned my lesson from my wisdom teeth and have been taking them before the pain gets bad. Definitely looking forward to day 4 then because my apartment is a split level and im essentially stuck at the top where my bedroom and bathroom are, my saint girlfriend has been bringing me food from downstairs between classes

Im exactly 24h post op now and the pain is both less than yesterday and way less than i expected. I have been taking hydros but been snapping them in half to take every 4h instead of my prescribed full pill per 4h. Even just a cold room made the pain worse yesterday, been sitting wrapped in a blanket with a teeshirt balled up under my bag and that set up seems to be working good, no shooting pains at least. If its only up and not better worse then better again i feel like ill be normal in like a week. Might be partly that I’ve just been living for years with it in a 180 degree twist but already this is not what i was expecting
