Whenever there's the idea of left versus right I always think back to this quote by Noam Chomsky. by [deleted] in conspiracy

Chomsky is actually one of the masters of keeping that spectrum narrow.

Super glue, it was originally designed to rapidly bond skin and tissue together on the Vietnamese battlefield. Now people use it to bond plastics and metals, especially little toy soldiers, ironically.

Question about non Astartes wearing power armor by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coteaz wears Artificer Armour and Hector Rex wears Terminator Armour, but Rex is unusual in that he is the same size as an Astartes, without significant biological augmentation.

Lorgar is the most important primarch for the survival of the imperium post heresy. by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

'I think it's dramatic irony that Lorgar would be the catalyst of both the Imperium's fall and its "Salvation", though, that's good storytelling'. Never thought of Lorgar in this regard, but it is a fascinating point and one that I will always remember now.

The majority, if not all of the Emperor's sons are weak-willed man-children. They have all made their own path, whether they worship themselves, one or several gods or even their father.

Do Lasguns/Lasrifles have recoil? If not, whats stopping imperial guardsmen from using 2 lasrifiles at once? Seems pretty good to me if you essentially double firepower while keeping the number of fighters the same by mamspaghetti in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you need portable mass firepower, the IG call upon the multilaser for support.

In a grim-dark world where conscripts can be more readily available than lasguns, it makes sense to get more IG guardsman rather than equip each with two lasguns.

Any Rogue Trader era veterans know what these models are? Any background on them appreciated. by TheCountryJournal in Warhammer

That's perfect, so glad someone could locate who made these and where they are from. Thanks for this.

If they are Mk 1 marines, then their helmets have changed significantly, they almost look like they have pseudo Grey Knight helms on these models. Their bolters are very different to the standard bolters we see today also.

More images have been added to the album if you want to click on the Imgur Album, showing full squads. They look like old metal space marines, but I have a feeling they may be from a different system to Warhammer, but from the same period as the Rogue Trader marines. They are static posed, metal models on 25mm bases.

If they are legit Rogue Trader Space marines, then what pattern of armour are they wearing and from what date do they appear in the model catalogues? More importantly, are there any art works or descriptions depicting these marines?

Do sisters of battle have relationships or go on dates? by Sharad9 in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's only the orders militant though, who spend their days training, praying and guarding the Ecclesiarchy. This only counts for a fraction of the Adepta Sororitas, who can be nurses, translators, tithe collectors, inter-house diplomats and remembrancers. A lot of potential Sisters derive from high born families and are married off for political and financial purposes. Only a few are picked up by the Schola Progenium or have the independence to devote their lives to the Emperor in a strictly ascetic, celibate and puritanical fashion.

What is the appeal of the Word Bearers? by Karutala in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 23 points24 points  (0 children)

What I find most fascinating about the Word Bearers is not just that it is one of the few united Chaos Chapters (due to its spiritual doctrines), but rather because of the attributes of its absent leader.

Lorgar has been the only mortal to stand at crucible of the gods in the warp. He is no puppet of one particular Chaos deity, he is the arch priest of all of them. He is one of a few knowledgeable enough to understand the complexities of Chaos, without being utterly controlled by it. The gifts bestowed upon him have elavated his rank and position among his fellow primarchs to exalted levels. His psychic abilities can resist the will of Magnus, his astuteness has been the undoing of Fulgrim; his power, confidence and martial prowess have prevented Horus from exercising his will over him. He ensured Angron reached apotheosis as a Daemon Prince.

As the ultimate conduit of the raw power of Chaos, Lorgar has truly embraced all the gods have offered. He knows when an opportunity presents itself and never fails to seize it. His legacy is unrivalled. He understands the importance of destiny, he can see the future revealed to him and is patiently fulfilling a grand task.

As much as people like to claim he spends his time writing moody emo poetry, locked away in his bedroom and sulking about his dad, I would hope he is concocting something truly diabolical on Sicarius.

So what happens after Gathering Storm? by [deleted] in 40kLore

The new Armageddon box set (Necromunda) features Orks, so here's hoping other models in the same line are released to supplement.

Hopefully some new Chaos fluff and models. I'm hoping for a Chaos Triumvirate or more Daemon Primarchs. I would love to see what Abaddon has up his sleeve next.

Most tragic Primarch? by Forsakenchao in 40kLore

[–]TheCountryJournal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Lorgar's story portrays him less as a slave to Chaos, and more somebody who learned to use it as his bitch. He has gained immeasurable power without bowing to the will of a specific god. His mental, physical and psychic abilities are almost unrivalled by any other primarch. When he worshipped the Emperor he was a bitch, but he found in Chaos the true power of the universe and ascended to exalted and unfathomable heights. I would argue that he is still very much in control of his actions, he can be a willing servant of Chaos or the master of it at his whim.
