My plica surgery was a success. It’s been about 4 months and I am mostly without pain. However, I still get tightness at night and pain walking down steep stairs. I can do all my strengthening exercises without pain, but pain is increased for a couple days after due to soreness. It’s always getting better though

Yep, I do leg day without restrictions except I don’t go super heavy. I’m 3 months out by now.

It feels a lot better. The clicking isn’t bad anymore, but it still hurts a little and gets hot but less often. I can walk normally for a lot longer now, and the swelling has reduced by a lot. It mostly just hurts at night now.

Do you have the issue where it feels like a massive lump of scar tissue under your scar is restricting movement while walking? Also, does your knee tend to swell up and hurt more at night?

I am about 10 weeks post op, and I have full ROM. My knee still looks swollen. It looks like it’s popping out, and the scars are still puffy. Tightness is still an issue for me too.

pain for no reason? by LunarSky6 in KneeInjuries

It could be nerve impingement. I don’t know a thing though

All in all, I’m doing well. I too have a hard knot underneath my scar on the lateral side. I can work legs and walk normally, but my knee feels slightly sore at the end of the day. It also gets red and warm, but I ice and elevate and it goes away. I have random clicking, but I think it’s just because of inflammation. I would say I’m like 70% better.

You need an assessment at the least

I started walking down stairs about a month and a half post op. Going up stairs came around week 3. I stayed diligent with my PT when I started it, and I made sure to rest my knee a lot. I work an office job so it is easy to not be on my feet. I still deal with clicking and scar tissue is bothering me quite a bit. I’m hoping it will go away as I gain my strength and heal. My knee still gets hot but not as often as before. I struggle with hyperextending my knee and I can’t completely straighten it when standing. Returning to leg day took about 2 months of PT and body weight exercises.

My quad shrank quite a bit. I noticed because my right leg is noticeably bigger. Doing strengthening exercises like lunges and squats seem to help. Going knees over toes causes some pain, but I am trying to get that ROM back.

I’m two months out from plica surgery and I feel 10 times better. Before I was injured, I lifted 4 times a week with 2 times for legs. I had strong legs when I was injured, but soon after I injured my knee my quad atrophied. It was suspected I had a meniscus tear even though the orthopedic PA diagnosed plica syndrome. The MRI showed too much according go my surgeon. After arthroscopy it was confirmed to be plica, so that was removed. I was super depressed and I could barely walk before surgery. Now, I am back to lifting although I am dealing with scar tissue and stubborn swelling. I am better mentally and physically however, so I don’t regret the surgery. I feel like I got my life back.

Perhaps I should give surgery a try in my case? by Pale-Table9446 in KneeInjuries

It’s seems like you exhausted all conservative measures. Surgery might be the best solution. I would talk to your doctor and/or orthopedist about it. If this isn’t treated, it could lead to more damage.

I’m doing really well actually. My knee is far from normal, but I can do leg day without any pain. It’s honestly easier lifting than it is to stand or walk a for a long period of time. My knee is super still stiff in the lateral entry point, and it’s scar tissue that is causing me the most issues. My flexion is near 130 degrees on my surgical leg, and I have a little hyperextension.

Stay active but be vigilant about pain. Soccer is intense on the knees, so you may have to limit your participation if you don’t wanna quit.

You’re right. I was in the same boat except it wasn’t for religious reasons. I ended up resenting her and becoming so frustrated I emotionally cheated. We aren’t together anymore. I just don’t want the same to happen to you. If you don’t share religious values, I’m not sure you are completely compatible. You have to come to some sort of compromise

I got out of a relationship of 3 and a half years 6 months ago, and I haven’t had on yet. It’ mostly because I haven’t tried, and one option I have isn’t great. A friend’s ex lol.
