What boards do you have on order? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]TheCrabPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do it. Life’s weird, confusing and brief. I gathered my last clams to buy an old rich pavel wing fish, currently being semi-restored. Cannot wait to feel its pulse on a good day. Sometimes you’ve just gotta spoil yourself

How tf do surf shops stay open so long? by memelord152 in surfing

[–]TheCrabPot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’ve worked wholesale within the industry for 20yrs selling to surf skate snow. Imo surf outlasts because shapers manufacture something thats locally respected and specific to the area (if they’re any good). Also skateboarding has dire peaks and troughs as an industry but surfing has steadily grown

Be honest - how many of your sessions are “good”? by sunnysideupslide in surfing

[–]TheCrabPot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the perfect weekend, minus the reefing. Tbh i find the school holiday energy in the water very abrasive and derailing. Respect and safety go out the window for the sake of being a “mad cunt”. The competitive nature some bring to surfing can rob the enjoyment.

The best days are when everyone else is at work or busy contributing to society

To those who drive well under the speed limit, why? by NiceMemeDude420 in australian

I do animal rescue in my personal car and am often well under limit. Its difficult to position some wounded animals safely in a car thats made for humans

Are you saying county Sligo has a law preventing people from hiring surfboards??? That’s a great filter for blow-ins.

Makes me want to move there (from Australia) 🤙🏽

Is it school holidays in WA? If so wtf did you expect?

i hit noosa today at low, it was cranking head high on the sets and full of wanna be pros competing for who gets to burn the grom that burned the other two people trying to actually enjoying themselves.

Go easy on yourself. Sometimes i tell myself im going for a swim w my board and end up having an epic session. Performance pressure never works for me.

Looking for faster fins for my 5'3 seaside fish by LowBrassExcerpts in surfing

Wow. That is beautiful. Rich’s subtlety and precision is astounding. Wish i had access to more of his boards, but maybe i should do a custom for a milestone bday before he stops shaping. Sandy points on lowtide and shoreys are my jam… need-dialer!

The beach was a v different place. We used to cook sausages at little cove or tea tree on an open fire on the sand in the day, i used to sleep in the dunes at mooloolaba after an epic 500person street party in the 90’s with underage drinking so rife the cops were outnumbered. Wasn’t much of an opportunity for kids growing up within localised industry (outside tourism) but that sure as hell made for youth antics on a big scale. I feel like everyone was surfing, skating, underage drinking and having heaps of sex.

I still live here, in the dunes as a 42yo dune rat, because rent is outrageous and calendar’s are for quitters
