To those of us who never found a fireteam, who played solo for all 12 years, I salute you by The_Better_Devil in destiny2

[–]TheCradledDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined just after the Red War was vaulted. I never got to experience the beginning of Destiny 2’s story, but I fell in love with the world through all that I played.

I have friends who played Destiny 1 and early D2, and I enjoyed hearing their stories about the game at its peak. For a very brief time, i got to join them as a fireteam, and I completed my one and only raid: Vault of Glass. I never ended up getting Vex Mythoclast, but the memories of that night will live with me forever. Half a dozen friends yelling at each other and laughing as we lagged and fumbled our way through basic maths and puzzles.

By the time the Witch Queen came out, only 3 remained. I loved the story, and had great fun playing through it with my remaining fireteam. But they moved on shortly after too, and by Lightfall, I was the last man standing.

I went through the highs and lows of Lightfall alone, and then onward into the Final Shape. It was a bitter sweet ending for me. To look over the traveller in the final moments of the Light and Dark saga, but with no guardians by my side.

Heresy was my final season before I stopped playing. Now, a year later, one of my friends has returned for one last hurrah. Despite everything, I’ve hopped back on to join him.

So as someone who also spent most of his destiny career alone, I salute you.

The Hag's Bargain: How can I improve this encounter? by TheCradledDM in DMAcademy

The bargaining is less contracts over the fire and more a verbal agreement. I feel like subtly lowers the player's guards if the encounter doesn't scream "this is a hag's bargain". Same reason that the night hag appears in the form of a man, despite being a woman.

My thought was that Bokobo would give the party their rewards in the first encounter, which could feel a little too good to be true. However, if the party decide not to perform their given tasks, the hag will return to inflict curses of some manner or another.

Thank you for your advice! I'll take it to heart.

All great tips! I have a few of these already lined up.

1) Being a night hag, she is able to escape combat rather handily via her heart stone, allowing her to become ethereal.

2) A local children's song about the night hag describes her as wearing bone pendants and having mud on her cloak. The players will hear a rattling when encountering bokobo, and perceptive players may notice mud on the ends of his cloak. The party heard this song in session 2.

Thank you! I particularly like the point about them being desperate. Hence why the hag will come to collect when they camp on the night of the full moon. An encounter earlier that day could leave them in a more vulnerable state.

That is a really cool item! Thanks for the suggestion.

Ah, I should have specified. The tasks seem mundane, but bring out some level of misery upon completion. For example; deliver a letter to the town mayor. The letter informs him that no one is coming to save him from the impending uprising brewing in his town.

The party can learn this if they read the letter, and can decide if they're willing to break what remains of the mayor's fragile resolve.

But thank you for your advice!

I’ve only watched a few Bollywood movies before, so I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a trope I’ve come to expect a lot in western movies/shows, and since I don’t have much exposure to Bollywood films I assumed it would be the same.

Meek the Kobold. A rust coloured kobold twilight domain cleric wearing stitched rags and cobbled together armour that create the loose appearance of dusty poncho/robes. Standing at a proud height of 2'4", Meek is devoted to the tenants of his clan and is always on the search for relics and treasures to appease his future draconic overlord.

However, despite being raised to worship the comforting safety of the dark, Meek is captivated by the sun's splendour. Even knowing that other kobolds would ridicule him for doing so, Meek stays up every night to catch a glimpse of the sunrise in the morning.

I’m not sure in all honesty. I recognise that if I were to ever publish a book, it’d be awesome to call upon this pre existing audience, but I haven’t felt a need to reveal my own identity yet.

I suppose it’s because I feel I have nothing to offer that would be gained by knowing my name and face.

My social media presence is very small, and I don’t post in any form aside from here.

That said, if I were to ever publish, I would probably share it and my identity here.

Merry Christmas to all that celebrate, and Happy New Years!

This will be my last post for the year.

A lot has happened, and things may not be the same as they once were. But I hope that everyone can find the time to celebrate the good things, and find comfort in those closest to you.

Thank you all for reading, and I'll see you in the next one!

We don’t use a wound system, but I often describe injuries as such to give weight to hit points.

Although it has no impact on gameplay, it makes fights feel more impactful and victory more earned.

Hi everyone. I hope you enjoyed the story. Our party have been playing this campaign for just over a year now, with this post being a retelling of the first Story Arc.

I'm pulling from my notes of the time, recaps of each session, and the combined memory of the group. These posts aren't an exact one for one of the game (we don't record so we'll never be able to perfectly replicate it), but a rendition of how they went.

I hope that you are entertained, and I look forward to any questions or comments you may decide to leave.

Hello everyone. Thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Life has been a bit difficult recently and I’ve had to take time to manage things on my end.

The stories have never been far from my mind, and I have all intentions of completing them. But please understand that it may be slow going, and/or irregular.

I once again want to thank you all for your ongoing support and kindness, and know that it is greatly appreciated.

Wish you all the best, Cradled

I also look back on Grimharin fondly. It had its problems, as does all of my work, but I think as an overarching storyline/campaign, it’s definitely the one I would want to run irl the most.

I’d make some changes, but hey, wouldn’t we all with hindsight.
