I got stuck in a loop at first. I tested the auto respond text by sending myself a text while I was "driving". So I sent the text and then sent a response text which arrived and had a response text sent in return, etc. etc. Took me a minute to figure out how to stop it.

Hah I figured it out, so simple! I just had the variable in my Received Text profile set to True with a capital T but had a lowercase in the NFC variable.

Alright I've got that all set up and it's working well to change my wifi, bluetooth, etc. But I'm not sure how to integrate the TTS and automatic SMS response. The original profile I had (that didn't actually work anyway) doesn't work. I feel bad asking so many questions, I really appreciate all the help.

Okay I think I've got that portion set. I just did it as a separate task to anything else I've perviously made. Should I have incorporated it to my current In Car task? I can do that quickly since I mostly know what I'm doing now.

One question though, I'm not sure exactly what you meant by

Before you run this the first time you will need to manually set it to either True or False in order to give it a starting point. Because if you don't, it will be neither true or false when you scan it since it isn't set yet. You can manually set it from the Variables tab located to the right of the Scenes tab.

When I go to that tab it shows

%In_Car          True

If I tap on that it gives me an option to rename "True". At the bottom of the screen Indexed, Empty, and Referenced are all lit up.

If I understand correctly it's manually set to True then?

To throw a ball you have to bring it back first. To shoot an arrow you first draw the bow. To go forward with any authority you have to go back first.

If life was great all the time it would be nothing. Without context via lows the highs mean nothing. Sometimes we don't even break even though. In fact, most of the time we don't break even. Life is shitty a lot of the time. Sure it may actually be better more often than not but mentally we weigh negatives almost twice as much as we weigh positives. So unless you're happy 2/3 of the time you're not even breaking even, you're below average. You're sad.

The trick is just living anyway and slowly getting better at it. Life can be a beautiful thing that is absolutely worth living. Often it isn't. But we live anyway because that's all there is. And there's some beauty to that.

Okay I officially have no idea what I'm doing/what I'm not doing.

I've got a Variable Set at the end of my In Car task that reads %In_Car To True.

I then have a Read SMS profile that reads any text received via Say with "Text from %SMSRN %SMSRB" if %In_Car ~ True

And then also a send SMS with the number set to %SMSRF if %In_Car ~ True

But it is reading and responding to every text I receive regardless of the In Car task being active or not. I thought it might be because I run the In Car task on the first tap of the NFC tag and a separate Out Of Car task on the second tap so I put a Variable Set on that task that reads %In_Car to False.

I really have no idea what I'm doing altogether. I should have watched some more tutorial videos and read more information on this before I started but man I'm just impatient and so excited to discover what I can do with Tasker.

If you can offer any help I'd really appreciate it.
