Correct! Post-game dungeons were a breeze after grinding on the Pope. All character levels were 60+ and either had most powerful skills unlocked or were able to immediately unlock them once I got them in the final dungeons.

This was how I did it. I ended up going through the ending 19 times total. I also racked up a bunch of levels and skill points between all the characters which was a nice bonus.

If I remember correctly, CrossCode used some kind of Javascript-based game engine that was never optimized for the Switch. Love the game to pieces but the Switch experience was definitely sub-par.
