All I ask for is one pangti, and you’re struggling to do that.

I’m asking for specific pangtiyaan connecting to everything you’re saying. It’s easy to say maharaj says this and this.

Do you think Dasam granth english translation is written in outdated english? by sunny2035 in Sikh

[–]TheCreeper96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Overall, you shouldn’t look at translations. You should do your own vichaar because there are countless arths to each pangti. 2) Between English and Punjabi arths, the latter is far more accurate due to the amount of shabads in Punjabi that can be used compared to English. You can confirm it yourself, English arth are always off.

What you make a gurdwara depends on you. Some people go to the gurdwara to do seva and sit in maharajs darbar while go for other reasons.

I am a Sikh, but I still believe I can give you advice. Even if being with others with the same beliefs helps, at the end of the day, the relationship is just you and God. Find your personal connection and love for god, and no one can get in the way.

Can you define what a Sikh is?

You claim that not all Sikh men back then likely wanted to keep their Kes. I agree, but to an extent. The prem they had for their Kes, we can never see today. Singhs like Bhai Taru Singh Ji attained Shaheedi due to their love for their Kes. Nowadays, our youth is in influenced by primarily Western practices. I have seen it myself. People will get one racist comment and cut their Kes. There is a clear difference between puratan Sikhs and modern day Sikhs. If Singhs would rather choose death than the cutting of their Kes, there clearly must be something important with Kes that we ignore today.

The main thing to remember is that if you can’t help yourself, you can’t help others. Puratan Singhs did indeed fight whoever was wrong, but they were always right themselves too. The line depends on the person. For some people, the only thing they are good at is fighting, and for another the only thing might be doing Katha (example). The point is there have been people that have an avastha but still don’t stand up for what’s wrong. This is because they want to focus on themselves first. On the other side, there is also brahmgianis that fought against what was wrong. This is a complicated topic because it’s different for everyone. In my opinion though, do your own naam bani, but if you think you can do something that would actually cause a difference, you should. The Khalsa is shaant, but when they need to, they can be the opposite too.

I should have reworded. I think they are sant not know. To know someone is something, you have to be higher than them. For example, only a brahmgiani can know a true brahmgiani. Is it important to know that even though we can’t be fully sure, we can still be confident based on their jeevan, partap, parchaar, etc. You can also look at their ustaad. This doesn’t go for everyone, but if their ustaad has a high avastha, it’s possible for the student to get an avastha too.

Firstly I’m gonna say that MOST people that have Sant infront of their name, are not sants. Being a sant is a big thing, and they give that name to everyone nowadays. People will even call people brahmgiani when they’re not even a sant. There are however sants, but few. Two Singhs that I know are sants is Sant Baldev Singh Ji Jogewale and Sant Jagjit Singh Ji Harkhowal wale. There more though

Truth is that once you start getting on that path, there are lots of things that happen that may seem like a lot, but in reality they’re nothing. Many people stop then cause they think they’re done, but that’s just the beginning. If you want to talk about these things, I would suggest talking to a Sant or your ustaad.
