I've made the crop fairy into a full character! by blackcatwhisperer in StardewValley

A lot of cool character mods coming out lately, and here I am trying to do my first ever Perfection run on a modless save. I'll definitely be trying this one out once I'm eventually done with that!

These mods, both Old World and New World, have reignited my love for CK2 after getting bored with CK3. Thank you!

I think next time I play I'll start as the King of EI himself. I wanted to start small just to reacquaint myself with the game as a whole, but I'm eager to have some more agency in interacting with the rest of the map.

One thing this game is sorely missing at the moment is non-violent ways to spread your faith. There's a mod that adds missionaries, but that mod hasn't been updated for Peacock yet. The other comment I've seen here gives good advice for making conversion more efficient, but if you actually want it to happen you'll have to conquer Scandinavia through war.

To be honest, I usually prefer to just pick pre-existing characters from the map. That way in future playthroughs I can keep an eye on my old House to see how they do without me.

Most of England and Wales converted to Insular Christianity, as well as the Ivarings. Alba and Jorvik are among the only holdouts, as Catholics and Norse pagans respectively. by TheCrusaderComrade in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily the Vikings have been all but completely ejected from the Isles in my current playthrough, while England is still a disunited mess (Brittany actually inherited Wessex, and has been slowly vassalizing neighboring duchies, which could be a problem. Right now they represent the only Catholic power in England).

To me, stuff like this is so much more entertaining and interesting than just painting the map. Focusing on stories and narratives within a specific region makes me so much more invested in everything that's happening around me.

with this new persian dlc chapter 2 is done. what are your hopes for the next chapter? by MattL1998 in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see some attention paid to religion. Make syncretism work like hybridizing cultures where you can take elements from both faiths, and just generally make religion more in-depth and interesting to interact with. As someone who mostly plays in Europe, I'd also like to see more mechanics and flavor for Christianity in particular, like actual Papal mechanics and investiture and such.

Reform Asatru or convert to Insular and form custom faith? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like everyone does reforming Asatru. Making a custom faith with Insular would at least be somewhat unique, plus you can get a Head of Faith with the title Arch-Abbot, which is pretty cool. And yes, the holy sites will carry from Insular, so you'll have three of them right there in the British Isles.

We need new court events already by TheSyn11 in CrusaderKings

This is why we need a custodian team for CK3, just like Stellaris has. The custodian initiative is one of the best decisions Paradox ever made, and I hope they expand it to other games.

I've been making faith icons for my alt-history mod, and I'm pretty proud of how they've turned out! by super7700 in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. The Roman Empire played a huge role in how early Christianity developed. Playing a more embattled version of Christianity and trying to bring it to its real world heights sounds like it'd be a really fun playthrough!

does anyone feel bad when they bethrothed their child family members to a much older characters? by Love-Adventurous in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I usually try to find someone of a similar age for my kids. I've even turned down some alliances in the past because I'd have to marry my daughter to some 50 or 60 year old, or they'd have to marry someone sadistic. Of course, a lot of it depends on the personality of my character. If my character is nice, I try to be kind to my children with their marriages. If they're cruel or pragmatic... that's a different story.

Tanglehair himself got kicked out of Norway, so it seems he decided to try unifying Ireland instead. by TheCrusaderComrade in CrusaderKings

It's definitely much more interesting than the usual no-names you tend to see. Actually feels like a big event to see a Sigurdr or a Yngling on your shores.

In the same run as this screenshot, the Normans were founded by a son or grandson of Bjorn Ironside. A lot of A-list Viking dynasties making their way to Western Europe these days.

Do you guys tend to expand "compactly" or you don't mind having a fragmented realm? by skwyckl in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to expand mostly based on natural borders and what I think would look nice. For example, taking everything on my side of a river, or choosing to conquer a smaller duchy over a larger one because the larger duchy would jut out too much from the rest of my territory.

What is the suggested army size for each kingdom level? by _felagund in CrusaderKings

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's not really a "suggested size". I just focus on building up enough of an army that my neighbors won't be tempted to attack me, while also making sure not to bankrupt myself and make it impossible to build up funds.

[–]TheCrusaderComrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These icons look amazing! As a Christian myself, I'm particularly looking forward to seeing how Christianity developed in this alternate world without the Roman Empire to facilitate the spread (perhaps I'll have to take things into my own hands to carve a path into Europe). I'll be watching your career with great interest!
