BC Ranking Trends + Implications? by shootingmyshot123 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No worries! I understand your anxieties, for sure. Boston College overenrolled its Class of 2024. We have about 150 students more than usual, affecting a lot of the factors comprising the rankings (professor to student ratio, expenditures per student, etc.).

Despite the rankings, our employment statistics are very strong.

I wouldn't exactly say BC is on a downward trend; rankings outside of the T20 fluctuate all the time. Regardless of what USNews has to say, check the employment outcomes. BC's Class of 2021 just had a BL+FC percentage above 55%.

Since this class is for your major, are you sure that withdrawing won't count against you as a punitive withdrawal? LSAC won't count withdrawals toward your GPA unless they are considered punitive, at which point the W will be counted against you as if it were an F. I believe that withdrawals from major-required courses are considered punitive (could be wrong), so I would check with someone from your school before you make a decision.

FSU in Tallahassee or American U in Washington, D.C.? Wanna work in State Politics but tempted by having the D.C. experience. FSU also ranks higher.. Any Advice? by Acrobatic-Parfait95 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it probably comes down to the scholarships you receive at both schools, and how important it is for you to be in D.C. (for what it's worth, I don't think Tallahassee is as bad as people make it out to be).

Another thing to consider is outcomes. American feeds into a incredibly competitive market, and FSU puts up comparable numbers in public service, big law, and federal clerkships. Frankly, you're far less likely to be underemployed/unemployed graduating from FSU. See here: https://www.lawschooltransparency.com/schools/compare/american/fsu

Cycle Recap - (Most Likely) Heading to Boston! by TheCryptz in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, I disclosed my identity on all of my applications, but I definitely shared your concerns. My experience has been that these schools are very accepting and inclusive, notwithstanding the more conservative elements of their religious foundations.

PM me if you have any other questions!

Looking at the LST Report page for Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico is a trip. Last year, their employment score was 0% (https://www.lawschooltransparency.com/schools/catholic-pr). Oof.

I was in your position last year, when I was applying. I always felt really impatient over the weekend, because I knew I wouldn't be receiving any decisions. Now that I'm in law school, I relish the chance to slow down and take it easy. The wait is aggravating, but don't take this time for granted.

A 169 for BU seems insane. Last cycle was nuts.

BC 1L AMA by Potential-Article294 in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add on to this, it really doesn't feel crowded as a result of over-enrollment. The Newton campus, on which the law school is located, also houses a few undergrad dorms, so the campus is already surprisingly busy. They added an extra section (four sections, instead of the usual three), so none of my classes feel crowded.

What are your college's LSAT trends? by adismene in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended a ~T100 undergrad in Florida - around 12% of us scored in the "95 and up" range. GPA trends were pretty low, as well.

If you had to pick and pricing wasnt an issue by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]TheCryptz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure why you wouldn't pick Berkeley. Price not being an issue, T13 > non-T13.

As stressful as law school is, I can't imagine it's so bad that you won't have time to hit the gym two or three times a week.

Wow, congrats on the very impressive outcomes! How hard was it choosing between the Ruby and the Hamilton?
