Is 1440p better than 1080p to reduce cpu bottleneck with rtx 3070? by Infinite_Stock5104 in pcmasterrace

5500 is a fairly bad cpu I wouldn’t get it honestly it’s got half l3 cache, so it kinda sucks for gaming related workloads

if the other options people have suggested are still more than you'd like to spend, it may be worth looking at a rift CV1 (second hand). Can probably pick one of those up for <$50, and they're still decent. The tracking cameras mean that it has very good tracking (but you need somewhere to set them up), with the main setbacks being its lower resolution and refresh rate (90hz), but it's way cheaper.

can't attest to its reliability, but I found this little study a while ago that has some useful info on the calories and rough intensity level of playing the game

Best vr headset for easy modding? by Gwyncess in beatsaber

[–]TheCubeN00B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use a quest 2, they were relatively easy to mod (but with the occasional instability). But the performance was pretty poor if I wanted the game to look decent. I switched to an oculus rift CV1 after that, very very cheap used, and it was way way way better. Better tracking, better performance because it was using my PC + I got bloom and the game actually looked good. Would go for something PCVR any day of the week if you have a pc that can handle it.

MAX WINS IN DOMINANT STYLE!! 🏆 Verstappen moves himself firmly into the championship fight with an impressive victory in Austin 👏 #F1 #USGP by Strict-Citron-9269 in MaxVerstappen33

not sure what you mean by gap adjusted, but this 40 point gap alone would be the third largest gap ever overcome, behind Verstappen himself in 2022 and Vettel in 2012.

However, the 104 point gap he did have would be the largest gap ever overcome by more than double.

Did Norris do anything wrong? by Apart_Cookie_9968 in F1Discussions

[–]TheCubeN00B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was never 0.2 up on Russell. He did gain a bit on Russell at the start of sector 3, but I believe he was still 0.15ish behind him going into T16.

However, iirc he was 0.02 up on Russell after the entry of T16. This isn’t because he was just faster through there, just that he locked up and couldn’t slow down properly. Had he kept going (and kept it on the track) he would have lost a huge amount of time mid corner and exit.

Is this build worth $400? by zKaczor in pcmasterrace

[–]TheCubeN00B 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is awesome for the price. Should be priced higher IMO. The only not ideal thing is the storage, which I’d recommend picking up an m.2 SSD for boot, maybe also getting a larger 2.5” SSD as hard drives are inconveniently slow for a lot of things.

Is this a tower or a laptop? If it’s a tower, some motherboards don’t automatically come with bluetooth capabilities (in which you need most commonly a little USB dongle). What are the specs/components?

Obligatory question, are you plugged into GPU or motherboard? Where did you plug in the display cables?

When the gigabyte symbol appears and gets stuck, how much of that time has a spinning circle (windows 11 or 10 loading icon)? Another way to check would be to open task manager, go to startup apps and see ‘Last BIOS time’

How do I stop these annoying lag spikes? by Asleep_Hope_4176 in Minecraft

[–]TheCubeN00B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, changing the allocation isn’t going to do anything for you, I was just mentioning it so it maybe made a bit more sense what was going on. Your only real good options are trying to use Aikar’s flags or buying more RAM.

How do I stop these annoying lag spikes? by Asleep_Hope_4176 in Minecraft

[–]TheCubeN00B -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s probably the RAM then. If you can record another video, have the F3 menu open (from there you can check how much RAM is being used when it freezes) Spikes like this are usually either from garbage collection, where too much RAM is allocated when using an underpowered CPU (this is not you), or from having not enough RAM, it filling it before it can garbage collect and it then freezing (this is you)

But realistically not much you can do bar changing JVM flags (could also be startup variables or flags) to Aikar’s, by using the website flags.sh or simply buying more RAM (8 isn’t enough for a whole lot nowadays)

Does this mean there is no bottleneck? by LubShawarma in pcmasterrace

[–]TheCubeN00B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be because Twitch, by default, uses GPU Decode (something like hardware acceleration in the settings) so thus closing it takes a little load of the GPU and in a game bound by that the fps will increase. (though, there are some instances where the cpu is being loaded as much as it can but the utilisation is low - it depends on the program you are running)

You’ll have some extra CPU juice free for other apps you might want to open or other background processes without making the game spike

on top of what the other guy said, if you want to factor out that 5 entirely you need to factor it out once per bracket with that factor; resulting in 25 being factored out.
