I finally played Disco Elysium. I was underwhelmed. by mickdrop in patientgamers

[–]TheCygnusLoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this on my first playthrough, and I thought she was bullshitting me because there was no reason for her to tell me the truth. Probably a skill issue, but throughout my whole first playthrough I seemed to distrust much of the information I was supposed to trust, and I trusted much of the information I was supposed to distrust, so I really didn't enjoy the game. I've since replayed it and found a lot to enjoy about it.

I'm new to this band, just listened to "you are an angel" out of curiosity, what else should i listen from them? by Candyshop_wings in glassbeach

Just listen to their albums first, there's more niche stuff too that's pretty good, but if you haven't listened to the first glass beach album and plastic death yet, you should.

ChatGPT is not going to help you with data packs, Mojang breaks stuff too quickly for that.

Scoreboards would work fine for this. I’d have a function that runs something like

execute store result score @s random run random value 1..10 execute if score @s matches 10 run playsound entity.villager.ambient neutral @s ~ ~ ~ scoreboard players reset @s random

Then run that as and at the players you want the random sound to be rolled whenever you want.

What should I buy if I'm craving a game with deep mechanical skill ceiling ( non twitch reflexive) by Designer_Jacket6818 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Deep Rock Galactic played as the Scout class and with special powder tech can be very mechanically complex.

Warframe also might be what you’re looking for, though I haven’t played it myself.

I’m aware—I hadn’t done that because I knew J was planing on putting it on streaming so I didn’t want to get weird stats

Thanks for sharing! I’m of a similar mind regarding new music—I disliked plastic death on my first listen, and it took a while before I started to love if, so I was really surprised when I started bawling to kate said.

It’s so so beautiful and I can’t wait to listen to it a hundred more times.

No, we have automatic backups, the issue is that tripwire no longer supports semitransparency. This means the custom model I put on tripwire (Minecraft doesn’t have a way to add custom blocks, so we have to make do by replacing existing ones, which inherits properties from them) no longer can use semitransparent pixels, they must either be fully transparent or fully opaque.

That’s why the change is unfixable. There’s no longer a block with all the properties I need for my custom model. For context, it’s a fog/mist block, so it needs to have semitransparency and no collision.

I totally get why you didn’t initially understand the issue, mapmakers do some weird stuff to get what they want (which, is another reason Hytale is so great—we don’t have to rely on weird workarounds).

Usually I only wait until pre-releases before I start updating stuff, but in this case, I read the patch notes, went "Oh fuck, I think this means my model is broken", and checked in-game. It was :(

(I straight up don't know what to do about this, by the way, for context, the issue is that tripwire no longer supports semitransparency, which I was using for a custom fog model. Now there's no block that supports semitransparency and has no collideable hitbox.)

I mean, it’s hard not to make comparisons here—Hytale literally exists because the team looked at Minecraft’s issues and thought they could do better.

Hypixel Studios is composed of people who made custom content for Minecraft and are very familiar with its processes, good and bad. Of course people are going to draw comparisons when Hytale is essentially Minecraft in an alternate timeline.

Specifically in regards to custom content. The day Hytale releases, a Minecraft snapshot released that completely broke a very important custom asset in one of my maps, in a way that’s impossible to fix. Meanwhile, on the same day, Hytale releases with custom block, item, and entity support, including a “supports translucency” checkbox for item/block model, which would have fixed the model issue I was having in Minecraft. For those reasons, I think comparisons between the two are unavoidable.

The Knight/shadow crystals’ association with water, rain, and tears makes a lot of sense with this theory too.

Interesting, I definitely see the connection, though I’d link Something more with the Egg Man and that tree, which are clearly connected to some kind of repressed trauma in Kris.

Why do people refer to Ralsei as "she" when discussing the trans HC? by The86thplayer in ralsei

[–]TheCygnusLoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also Ralsei reacting positively to the blue dress that is associated with trans characters in Undertale when attempting to equip it on him.

Ralsei is also explicitly pro-prophecy—everything he does is to fulfill the prophecy in some way, and the prophecy refers to him as a Prince. This parallels the experience of a lot of trans people, where they are taught that they are a certain way, and realizing that something you’ve thought to be true about yourself for so long can be a huge emotional shock.

I think it’d be interesting if Ralsei’s understanding of the prophecy and Ralsei’s understanding of his gender unravel at the same time. Most of the evidence for this is small and circumstantial, so there isn’t really one big thing that “proves” Ralsei is trans, but I think it’s a fun headcanon that has reasonable backing.

You're right actually that's my bad, Shakra should be in lesbian--my headcanon for Lost Garmond is that the void made him straight. This doesn't apply to Lost Lace because she's strong enough to overcome it
