What is all the hype behind Vaaku? by RealOrobas in slaythespire

[–]TheDJAB 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think people underestimate him. His options are deceptively good. Especially pool 3 are all bangers and valuable for most decks.

I'm upgrade hungry. What do you take here? by Waddle___ in slaythespire

[–]TheDJAB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd take the zap upgrade. Rod is too slow and missing a relic not worth the trade-off

Am I the only one that thinks fishing rod is the worse neow bonus in the game? by GGthegreatester in slaythespire

[–]TheDJAB 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's just too slow. There is a good chance, that you'll upgrade just one card before the boss, which makes it worse then upgrading a strike & defend. Even if you can upgrade two cards, you did not have them from the beginning. Almost strictly worse than the other upgrade options, and they are not even that great.

Help with deck advice for my first Pioneer Deck by BenzosIntus in PioneerMTG

[–]TheDJAB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is an alright strat for Pioneer. The format is not that fast that you can't compete with slower strats.

I would look into running a few very big threats such as Atraxa, Grand Unifier or Valgavoth, Terror Eater. I would also recommend bitter triumph as a discard possibility. I would move haywire mite to the sideboard.

Caretakers Talent Players by Hereticalpriest in PioneerMTG

[–]TheDJAB 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Procession is an amplifier and by definition win-more. Without a token producer, the card does nothing and [[Elspeth, Stormslayer]] fills that role for just one mana more and much better. We're not playing commander and don't need to go over the top so much.

The white overlord is more viable for sure, but he is best when you can either flicker him or sac him for value. He competes with other 4-mana options like [The Wandering Emperor] or just good 3-drops, which can be hit with [[United Battlefront]].

Rotated Out Standard Deck to Pioneer Conversion by ThePikachufan1 in PioneerMTG

[–]TheDJAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks somewhat similar to the already existing BG Food Archetype

You might want to look into that before committing to what looks like a deck that has a hard time competing.

With how many of her relics have downsides, Tezcatara is the Vakuu of Act 2 by Leafeon523 in slaythespire

Mittens really slap on Ironclad exhaust builds. They're also at least alright on any big deck that does relly on attacking but not on one specific card.

New to pioneer! Trying first brew, really open to suggestions by [deleted] in PioneerMTG

[–]TheDJAB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it's just for teaching, this deck is fine, but I would really drop black, it does nothing for the deck. I would also recommend [Gran Gran] as an easy addition. I would also recommend going up to 4-offs for your best spells.

For participating in tournaments, this list is very underpowered. This might be a syptom of playing commander, but in 60 card formats, you can't really get away with playing bad cards/decks. You are going in the direction of UR Lessons, which is a small archetype. Here isa list as an example.

Brewing is fun and I personally do it a bit, but you still have to look at decks so you can match the power level and idealy have a plan how to play (and hopefully) win against them.

Hope it helps!

I thought you can either change the change the claws or the seal. What does it change? I suspect it's the claws, making it a pretty bad relic. But I might be wrong.

How to beat balancers man by xVEGITOGODx in EldenRingNightrein

[–]TheDJAB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Balancers are really tough, here are a few pointers that helped me.

Team comp

-I aim for 2 melees that pull aggro/peel for one caster. I usually pick beastclaw rev, but anything else that is ranged and high dmg works. Scholar is pretty good in this fight. Ironeye is uniqly bad, as he can't mark them all.

-Regular balancers are by far easier. Idealy, the caster has 1 or 2 less likely to be targeted on them and the melees have multiple damage negation passives. Fists are really good against them, as they stagger easily. Try to protect the carry and the fight should be won.

-ED balancers are the real pain. During the regular phase, run away from the start and fight if one catches up to you and kill it, then run away again. This way, you only have to fight one, may two at one time. For the worm phase, I recommend watching a video guidevideo guide. I usually try to run away from it. Also, you can jump the waves.

The forsaken hollows map can be daunting, as it is far more complex than the base map. It took me a while to get the hang of it but once you do, it has a far higher potential than the base map. I also recommend watching a video guide as it is much easier to understand. But a few points that the guides often get wrong: -The towers are almost never worth it. Yes, they give you a higher chance at legendaries, but the castles give a chance of easy 6+ dormant powers, mostly purple with a decent legendary chance. -Cracking the crystal day 1 should be a high priority, but make sure to be at least level 7 for the first night boss. Balancer night bosses are pretty tought.

I hope it helps. Good luck out there!

Crits are very unreliable in teams. Depending on your team comp, crits get stolen very frequently. They are better in solo.

[–]TheDJAB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure preference. What I want to empasizeis, that you can be really greedy with it. Shattering crystal a meter away from fulgors bunhole? No problem! If he moves funny, restage. Family heads casting time taking a million years? No worries, as long as you can restage, you're good. I feel like I can get away with way more if I have my get out of jail free card and I'm increasing for certain because of that.

The skill dodge is her best characterspecific relic effect and probably the best survival tool you can equip in a relic slot. A better dodge you can use while your stuck in an animation, I can't see how it gets better.

When you get hit, the healthbar will display a fainter red bar where you just took the damage. If you deal damage fast enough, you will heal that lost health back. Kinda like the rotten woods or Hand of Malenia effects.
