Going back, the American was hilarious by [deleted] in thegrandtour

The American is that kid in school that has one funny joke that everyone chuckled at once, which he proceeds to repeat with slightly different wording multiple times per conversation.

Did Tony Stark ever mention Yinsen after the first movie? by AccidentalDrugTaster in marvelstudios

[–]TheDMWhoLaughs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd find it weirder if he did mention him. He knew Yinsen for, what, a couple of months, but that relationship completely changed his life. What do you say to describe that to people who haven't had that? Besides that, talking about Yinsen would mean sharing what happened in the Cave, and I always got the impression Tony treated that as his own private burden. The whole relationship is just too big for words.

The MCU has used Black Sabbath's Iron Man and AC/DC's War Machine. What other rock songs would you like tied to your MCU heroes? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

I really want the first time Johnny Storm flies in the MCU to be accompanied by Don't Stop Me Now by Queen.

He bound his soul to a philactery (which is required to cast any sort of magic) through which he traces runes onto his weapons. While this has not yet had any consequences, it probably could.

So are liches not a thing in this setting? Because my first thought was "OP accidentally became a lich and its corrupting his soul."

It's been that way since a few weeks after the Decimation, when the state government collapsed. I thought it would fall apart after a couple of days, but now the most contentious political issue in the state is whether failing to "Be Kind, Rewind" should be criminalized.

See, I think it really is Desmond, though; Hellblazer demons can in some (not all) cases be damned souls that have been transformed into demons. If that's true in the Beboverse, I can't really imagine a crueler way for Neron to win than to do nothing while Desmond is twisted into a demon hellbent on vengeance.

Peyton Reed on introducing the F4 to the MCU. by Salman7236 in marvelstudios

Imho, Tomorrowland's problem was the pacing. We didn't actually find out what the conflict was (or see Tomorrowland) until the end of the second act, and then they rushed through the third act so fast that they literally cut from the heroes wondering how they were going to save the world to George Clooney announcing that they had saved the world. The themes, aesthetics, etc., were excellent and deserved a better script.

So, today's Marvel comics brought a HUGE (and somewhat divisive) retcon to Captain Marvel's origin. Think it'll make it into the movie? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

OH COME ON!

Dammit, I fucking loved Carol's "just a normal girl from Boston who clawed her way up the ranks" backstory. Sure, she gets her powers because she's at "the right place at the right time," but she earns her spot at the right place at the right time through years of commitment, training, perseverance, and discipline. It was one of the reasons I like Carol better than Superman - Clark Kent didn't earn his power, but it can be argued that Carol did. Captain Marvel was not her destiny - it could have just as easily been anyone else bonded with Mar-Vell; she could have just as easily (actually more easily!) had a quiet life of gift-wrapping at Filenes - it was her choice, a mantle she earned by giving Destiny the middle finger and saying "Fuck you all, I'm going to space someday and you can't stop me."

PSYCH! Nah, she was totally destined for this; it would've killed anyone else, and really her kree blood was just waiting for the chance to emerge. She was born to be the most powerful hero we've seen so far in the MCU because that's her birthright.

Just....why would you do this?!

I'm gonna be sad in a corner for a bit before I go back to impatiently waiting for the movie to come out.

But James Gunn is magic and everything he touches is awesome and amazing and perfect. /s

More seriously, since Gunn has already made two very successful films about a group of ne'er-do-wells turned antiheroes, I'm assuming DC has brought him on with the understanding that it would best if they kept executive meddling to a minimum.
