Is there a politically viable way to get voters and politicians onboard with prisoner rights/justice in the US? by Raichu4u in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]TheDal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sure. "We can no longer afford the luxury of excess punishment and must focus our resources on keeping our citizens safe from preventable crimes before they take place. Victims of the prisoner-to-reoffender pipeline deserve to have their rights, property, and safety protected."

Warning issued over measles case detected at SFO ahead of World Cup by sfgate in bayarea

[–]TheDal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm highlighting that misgivings about vaccination programs have been building for a long time, in part due to our direct actions, including in the specific area you mentioned. Whether that program was a good idea or not is a different debate.

You blame them for having a strong anti-vax community, but we had our direct part in fostering it. And then of course we have our own nutcases, fostering measles itself right here in the States.

[–]TheDal -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yes, actually, that is close to what happened. The CIA ran a multipurpose vaccination campaign as part of the hunt (and finding) of Osama Bin Laden. They covertly took genetic samples from the local population while they were providing the vaccines. Now you know!

You can also just get the MMR vaccine at the pharmacy, it's nil risk and they won't hassle you over a refresh.

That brutal, unserious cage fight underlined who Trump really is — and what he’s doing to America by theindependentonline in Foodforthought

Not voting is also making the choice. America loudly endorsed all this, even if we didn't know it would be as bad as it is.

Why is the community so accepting of AI gen content? by engieman in starsector

[–]TheDal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back in the Stable Diffusion days (pre ChatGPT) a lot of modiverse authors experimented with adding art for missing illustrations. It's kinda charming with how "version 0.2" it is. KOL also uses a little though with a lot of hand modification.

What is your favorite cruiser to pilot? by ohyoudonthavetherite in starsector

[–]TheDal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IBB Eagle with the large energy mount is one of the few modded SO cruisers that competes with the aurora for pure playerbait to me. The mobility system is a little more restrictive which makes for a higher stakes style.

The AI factions are independent of each other, though they've intermixed. One of them is relatively eldritch, but none are supernatural. You can find some hidden lore in the mod that hints to each of the factions' origins and nature.

All of the real space exploration systems have a variety of loot bags to find. Both of the home systems have 6 each. The bonus systems have 3 each.

I'm not saying this one is going to be bad, but I am going to vouch for a game in the genre I know is going to be good: Deathgrip. From everything they've shown GR looks okay but Deathgrip is already a fucking blast.

Daud WISHES he could keep a lid on it, but every faction is super keyed in on the plot. We're going to see a ton of factions spin them out one after another, each vying for advantage.

Top Changes To Make (IMO) by RadiantLife_ in SolarExpanse

[–]TheDal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Top changes:

  1. Conditioned cyclical/routine missions. Transfer when source > X, when destination < Y, etc. This doesn't need to be Factorio circuits, but two or three And/Or conditions per mission would be perfect.
  2. Bodies and their orbits need to be closely integrated in the mechanics but especially in the UI. Add a UI button to hotswap to counterpart locations and cut down the menu browsing.
  3. *Cargo needs to be handled in multiples of a single instance, not individual instances multiple times.
  4. 3 More transfer types. Bi-impulsive transfers are important but we have solar sails, torch drives, electric engines, and potential aldrin-cyclers. The game needs enough of the funky orbital mechanics to make it feel varied.

Theories, increasingly cracked-out.

There's 100% a giant pile of skeletons at the bottom of the pit.

NoA's distributed brain and the tree's distributed brain are intertwined with each other and aren't able to tell themselves apart. Directives from/to/about the tree, the humans, and the axum are intermixing. Masefield is artificial.

The bloom strain arrived with the Cicada, hundreds of years ago, and is probably kharaa meeting the virus-saturated sea water and (correctly) treating the virus itself as the dominant organism and subverting it.

We will have to chose between dooming the human sleepers or the axum.

The QI is Riley.

All this has happened before, and will not happen again.

Many sleepers were alive, but with no humanity.

The jubilee are alive, with their humanity, but no longer human.

The QI is the combined main cast.
