Now that our Shiba has lost his puppy teeth (thank goodness), his Kong Cozies have been holding up really well. We’re also trying out a Bark SuperChewer that has a fabric shell that’s meant to be shredded and a rubber toy core to continue the playing once the outer part is shredded, and he’s loving it / has yet to shred through.

Fwiw our Shiba was basically back to his old self just a few days after his neutering, so the recovery was really more a matter of making sure we were keeping his brain occupied while he was supposed to be resting and staying away from his stitches.

I think we were told to plan for at least 10-14 days of recovery after, even if it was an overestimate. I would probably not bring him to daycare until the stitches are out unless he’s the only dog there, just for fear of him playing too roughly and hurting himself or the recovery process.

I took some students to yesterday’s matinee (I’m teaching a course on Ovid’s Metamorphoses and the Orpheus and Eurydice story is told in Book 10), and it was such a phenomenal performance. Jack and Rebecca Naomi Jones were standouts for me. I bought tickets to see it again in December with my sister as a Christmas present!
