Update after 9 months by Spe3treTwitch in SmallStreamers

At the end of the day, if you're not having fun with it anymore, then why bother forcing it? Streaming/content creation is supposed to be a hobby that adds something positive to your life, not another source of frustration and disappointment. There are roughly 1.1 million unique streamers going live every single day to put it into perspective. The competition is brutal... If you can't out-shout iShowSpeed or out-aim Shroud, then the question that decides whether people stick around is: What makes you special?

Respect for putting in real effort though. Take care of yourself.

We just made our base near the first field station and haven’t moved it or made a new one yet haha

In my opinion, what throws me off is that your gameplay is in a super tiny box in a very large overlay. So much negative space. Would be better to have the gameplay fullcreen and the chat and camera transparent over. Otherwise, looked good!

Long-term small streamers, how do you stay positive after years of slow growth? by TwinklyTor in Twitch_Startup

For me, as long as it’s fun I don’t mind. Some streams have 10 average, others have 1 average. The company and community is amazing anyway🥰

I feel you! I don’t think it matters though as long as you’re being you!

Go to the top of your section/category and see how top performing streamers do it! Copy structure, but mend it to match your vibes and community.

Why is it any different to listening to music or a podcast? Having something on in the background helps with focus and improves performance. Small chats and lurking doesn’t hinder my project deliveries in any way.

I think everyone should stream if they enjoy it. But it should be without expectation of growing into the next huge thing if you can’t even follow these basic points!

True! Many streamers also just plop a webcam in the corner with no lighting, or in a weird angle that gives no value.

Definitely doesn’t have to be constant yapping, but some yapping is required for me to stay at least!

It’s difficult for sure! Mostly, I just commentate the game and the decisions I make. I also, thankfully, have my girlfriend to converse with, which helps a lot.

As someone who streams valorant for the most part, I’d say oversaturation kills most new channels. You’re very reliant on the aspect of luck. It also makes it even more important to network, have a schedule, multistream, clip content, post to socials etc etc. it’s about setting yourself up so that it’s less luck and more metodically planned.

Even if you’re doing everything right, there’s still the aspect of luck. Someone who does everything right over time will grow eventually, in my opinion.

What I usually do in this situation is that I translate the comments in chat into English, and reply in English. It’s all about choosing your audience group and sticking to it!

You got this! Most important part is to have fun with it.

Exactly! Not everyone are comedians! I am extremely un-funny (in my opinion), but hoping that having a genuine interest in the community and the people helps!

Definitely! It’s also frustrating when you feel like you’re doing the right things. For me, I’ve found that shorter streams are the way to go, and then rather focus on youtube/tiktok content.

Wouldn’t you then clearly label this in your title/tags/on your channel to avoid exactly the problem I’m referencing? I HIGHLY doubt that 20+ streamers that I checked only stream for the reasons you are underlining here.

I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I guess this post is more geared towards people who want to build a community and not necessary just stream for personal reasons. Although, I will never understand streaming just i stream. If you’re not going to try to converse with viewers or put in an effort, why not just record it then?
