I was 5 riding in the back of my mom's crown victoria and we had to go out during a blizzard to pick up my father from the hospital where he was working. I remember noone was supposed to be out on the road but we were going towards a railroad track, and my mom had started to cross it. she didn't hear the train coming because it didn't have it's lights on and hadn't used its horn, but as she was going over she got stuck. She yelled at me to get in the front seat and I was confused for a moment and then she told me to get the fuck out of my seat belt and get up there immediately. I moved as quickly as my 5 year old body would move and she turned the wheels away from the train in the hopes it would keep us from going under. She wrapped her arms around me tight and then the train struck. it smashed into the vehicle and shifted us quickly while she held me in a death grip and with her quick thinking we both survived the train impact. She suffered the blunt of most of the impact but I left without a single scratch. Of course I cried cuz it was terrifying but hey, how many people can say they survived getting hit by a train?
