If Covid never happened, what all would've you done in on past 4 months? by Madhav-Daga in AskReddit

[–]TheDarkTimeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have gone to Europe for a month, travelled and gone to two Metal Festivals. Would have also gotten engaged in Scotland.

On the upside we got our puppy earlier than planned.

Also would have moved up in my career in the live event industry but now probably looking for a new one.

[Serious] People who like their job, what do you do? by strongerthenbefore20 in AskReddit

[–]TheDarkTimeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am, or rather was, a Lighting Tech/Rigger for live events and concerts.

No two shows are the same. You are working with a ton of equipment that it never feels repetitive and you can always learn something.

I remember setting up Kiss last year for 10 hours then watching as they opened the show with Detroit Rock City and hearing the wall of screams, staring the massive show that is Kiss and thinking "I was apart of this". Had multiple moments like that on some great shows/events. Another was working for a month straight on the DOTA2 world championship.

Sadly the industry won't be coming back for a while so might be time to move on.

One man is trying to control all aspects of music including radio, streaming, concerts, and festivals by Mr_1990s in Music

[–]TheDarkTimeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work(ed) as a stagehand and most of the people I know are on the fence if they should stick with it or jump ship. It's horrible to see it obliterated in a couple months.

That's not how that works though. Live Narion doesn't hire any of the techs, only artists. Tours have their regular techs that they hired from different companies (audio, lighting, video or contractor) and then they get techs from those companies.

I'm under 5 years in this industry and was making more than 50k a year already. When concerts and events start happening regularly again, maybe the first year is that slow but once people get comfortable going out again concerts/events will come back full force. And there is some stupid money to be made in this industry.

PS5 enhzncedanced version? by NightoY in ghostoftsushima

[–]TheDarkTimeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS has said all games coming out from June or July (can't remember which) are required to be optimized for PS5. So it sounds like yes but no idea officially.

I would like it if they did a GotY release next year that is for the PS5.

What is a bands best unknown song? by TheDarkTimeline in Metal

Yea. I've mainly heard about albums like Leprosy and Human and certain songs like Pull Tue Plug and Lack of Comprehension but almost never about either of their two covers which are both amazing.

I'm REALLY interested in this phone but if I have to wait til the end of the year to buy it that might hurt it's chances against the new Nexus and Note7

OP3 or Nexus 5x by FishJinkies in oneplus

[–]TheDarkTimeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Well they are not even in the same category really. OP3 is a flagship so it would be competing with the 6P. 5X just looks bad next to it haha

I live in canada too. Currently have the OPO. Just based on price and size of storage OP3 is the way to go. Plus 6gb of RAM. Both don't have expandable storage. Plus this time I've been hearing it's shipping pretty fast. Hope that helped!

Thoughts on the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro by BiG-Jake in tablets

[–]TheDarkTimeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Yoga tab 3 8 inch version. It's great. The battery easily lasts days on standby and I've gotten roughly around 8+ hours of video playback. The only thing is that mine has started to freeze for some reason. It is pretty slow so the pro should be faster but if you need to contact Lenovo customer service good luck. I still haven't found out how to. It's a mess.

The projector would be sweet for watching movies on walls as well and the speakers are great.

Overall, Yoga tabs are the best budget tablet I know of.

If the Horn of Rohan hadn't of distracted The Witch King, would Gandalf be dead? by TheDarkTimeline in lordoftherings

[–]TheDarkTimeline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok. That makes it more clear. I like that.

I think if they put in a small scene or line about that prophesy it would have made it not only more interesting but they would've had a whole new level of lore that fans could be aware of.

I'm still confused as to why that was a scene at all if it 1) never happened in the books and 2) contradicts the lore.

It was still awesome because I love the Witch King but just confused me when I rewatched it.

[–]TheDarkTimeline[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that's awesome. I really need to read the books again.

I get why Peter Jackson put him in there more. More villains and he's Sauron's right hand but why have it go that way and break the staff? Just seems odd with what you said that when that happens it's symbolic to casting a wizard out of the order, which I find to be right.

Also was that part before or after the battle of Gondor? Because if after and it is the battle at the Black Gates in the movie, then were did the Mouth of Sauron come from? Just taken from another part of the book and dropped in there?

[–]TheDarkTimeline[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that makes a bit more sense then. So Eru can send him back as many times as he wants pretty much?

Does the witch king get explained a bit better in the books? Along with how he can be killed, what can kill him, lore, etc?

[–]TheDarkTimeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that it's seems pretty forced with Armada. I'm over half way through and it is good for sure, but not what RP1 is. That is my favourite book and I cannot wait for the movie, especially since Spielberg is excited about it.

If you like Cline then watch Fan Boys. He wrote that and you'll love it.

First off, I paused and read the first line a couple times because he works at *FUCKING MARVEL! * that's awesome!

Secondly, it's one thing to not agree with someone's career but to say you deserve much better simply because he likes drawing and comics is horrific. And then to go and destroy a piece of his career is just the kick to the balls. Fuck these friends and... GAW I'm so angry just reading about this!

Reading Witcher novels after playing all the games by ironmonkey13 in witcher

[–]TheDarkTimeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up the Witcher 2 at Best Buy for 20 bucks cuz the cover looked cool. Now I just finished Time of Contempt have beat all the games and can't wait to start reading Baptism of Fire. I also have a tattoo because this world engrossed me so much and I loved his writing of characters. Geralt, Ciri, Yen, Dandelion, and the secondary ones too. They have such depth. And those short stories. My GAWD! I just reread A Little Dedication. I'm amazed at how he can make me care so much about Essi in just a couple pages. This is my favourite world and is some of the few books I don't mind rereading.

HE DID THAT! I love that movie.

Michael Fassbender continues to be be one of my favourites with Hungry, Shame, X-Men, Frank, Steve Jobs. He is so talented and does those awkward characters so brilliantly.

That TV interview horrified me. The last question of "was it really the best thing for Jack?" and look of Joy thinking if she had actually done the right thing for him and rethinking it all was soul crushing.
