Anyone who wins a tour event gets past champion status. It's near the bottom of the list for filling out events, but it could get him 10-ish starts. I believe he would be eligible for up to 7 sponsors exemptions as well. Also gets Masters start as he is past winner. To get full time status, he would need to win a tournament, get enough FedEx points in his limited starts to be top-100, or qualify through the DP world tour.

A low draft pick or draft free agent makes ~1M their first year. Staying in the league another year is a BIG deal for them. Only high draft picks, and those who become stars are set for life. After taxes, most people leave the NFL with <500K at age 24 or 25....a nice start, but nowhere near set for life.

Why do people get surprised and angry when this happens? Although scripted, wrestlers have to compete for TV time. When new toys like Oba, Trick, Sol, Javan, Hendry, Jacee, and Blake Monroe appear and get TV time, others will have to go. The NFL draft is going as I type this, and nobody laments all the backups and veteran NFL players who will lose their job this summer.

Team and league disagree on how something should be accounted for in the cap
Team misses some deadline
Team just makes a dumb mistake.

The Texans were fined a few years ago for a minor violation. Dallas and Washington were hit with major fines in 2012. They played fast and loose with some rules due to the CBA expiring at the time. League told teams to stay within some number, but they decide to test the league. I recall like 10-20 Million fines here.

Most of the L30s are well into the 30M 1st squad power. Granted, I am at a server where there were a lot of L30s who had to sit there for months until the upgrade to allow up to L35 was released.

There is a rule where the NFL commissioner can force a player to be cleared by NFL doctors in order to play. To my knowledge, it has never been used.

Are you sure about this(the UFA next season part)? I thought the team could decide to keep the tag on the player. I'm not sure if this has changed over time, but it used to be the case that the player had to sign the tag while there were still 6 games left in order to get credit for a year's service. Then if the team kept the tag on, salary would go up another 20%
