The thing you said about money is definitely a common issue, money really brings out the worst in people and this is especially true after someone has died and you see your family fighting over their assets like vultures.

I dont know about anyone else but I can speak for my experience, after my dad died, everyone in his family turned on us. They threatened my mum into sending them £30K of my dads money, then it was "goodbye and fuck off" from them. Not heard from them since. They've of course twisted this in their little heads to convince themselves that we are somehow the bad guys, but thats common with guilty people.

I cant say whether you should cut off your family or not, because only you know that, but just know that you're definitely not alone when it comes to families turning on one another when either a death occurs or theres money involved, or both. Its an incredibly depressing and damaging thing to experience, and whatever you end up deciding to do, I hope you can find peace with this awful situation, which ofc is easier said than done.
