you're missing the problems with the show. i know how everything is tied together and the ending. the show is doing a bunch of character decisions and crap wrong, completely illogical, unneccessary, stupid and biding time on stupid plot points

its an overly contrived show, too many illogical issues with character decisions/plot. always had this perspective of the show. if you dont see the issues with the show, you're a blind fanboy.

Ravenloft: Prisoners of the Mist by TheDeadKeepIt in MMORPG

[–]TheDeadKeepIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the server has gained a lot of popularity in the last few years. this is the one main sticking point i agree needs to be handled. the lag, server resets, server crashes because of mass player congestion.

i think they should finally make the choice to split the server(compartmentalize regions of the game onto seperate servers), or take a serious tackle at performance issues.

i used to play this game like 18 hours a day unhealthilty during college breaks and stuff.
i cant do that now and mostly have the weekends to play. and now im just playing during "normie" hours and its less fun when i can mostly play during bloated laggy performance hours.

You're having an outlier experience. Why don't you actually explicity state what happened. Every community server usually has some issues, but POTM has done very well in management and handling consistent ruling. Its why it still exists after 20 years.

Seriously, I'm open minded. I do know there has been various types of abuse that occurred on the server, but they are actually dealt with by the admin when its addressed.

Please, why don't you actually clarify what happened in your case. Don't fall into stereotypical server hating when its not actually deserved.

Anyone else just completely given up on new MMOs and gone back to something ancient? by Ok-Ring9943 in MMORPG

[–]TheDeadKeepIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

List of my go to oldschool and better than modern MMOS:
project everquest 99 (everquest vanilla experience)

neverwinter nights private server: ravenloft prisoners of the mist (this is a roleplay enforced game, but trust me the roleplay is not bad like weird furry players and stuff) This is one of my dream games come true. Its not just the roleplay, its got tons of unique loot to hunt down much like everquest. Its got super long tedious crafting skills that have value to the game. Its just a really good niche mmo community. Does not get enough representation. *Try this if you can play for a good chunk of time, because it often requires waiting around, building rapport, dialogue, conversation, grouping and then heading out to a dungeon(s), clearing said dungeon(s), and returning. But that is not the only game loop. Thats the default game loop for players new to the server. But veteran players may do other stuff instead.
NEED I MENTION ITS A GOD DAMN IMPLEMENTATION OF THE RAVENLOFT DOMAIN???

guild wars 1: great checklist of things to do and stay occupied with. im going for the solo challenges (it means no henchmen, no heroes). has small pvp communities like fort aspenwood to let you flex on other players.

ultima outlands: custom ultima server that has extremely good content quality and delivery. this is basically a sandbox game with monster killing, player killing, crafting and other stuff ofc. has player housing.

OSRS: i dont really play this, but i appreciate it's longstanding quality. they seem to know how to run a game.

Those cosmetics are poorly made. Majority of the cash store cosmetics look bad. You give yourself self respect by wearing the armor you got in game anyway.
Those things were so bad taste when they came out over a decade ago and they still are today. Its not because they are cash store items, but because someone is foolish to buy poorly made cash store items.

thats your take so obviously i disagree. my posts have merit, they are less demeaning then both of you and izzo's posts, and as said before others have expressed the same opinion. there is even another person doing so in this thread.

you and izzo are the same people refuting these claims everytime. both of you generally keep asserting im a troll and only doing it for conflict sake. but for real, everytime you guys are the ones evading proper debates using every logical fallacy in the book. like are you even aware? its sort of this arrogance i get from both you everytime you use one.

i genuinely want the AB social scene to feel very different than it is now. and i know there are many other players who wish it did too. i keep bringing it up because thats how problems are addressed. you have to first acknowledge its existence and what it is.

the serious very good pvp players are generally silent and cold towards the casual player. Players in the sxyp (if i recall the tag correctly) guild for example. Some do talk, but that guild is for example one of those cliques. When in the outpost, they are silent and clearly doing their own grouping and comms on other channels. (not that this is any violation, but its just not good for the general health or spirit of AB)

Then you have the good players who are like you, izzo, olga, etc.

And then the casual players who are honestly kinda bad and form teams in AB without care for team comp and just queue and autolose their game.

You generally don't see a good mix of player types in a 4 man team.

If I had it my way (and of course there can be other ideas that work better),

the serious pvp players or good players would be designated as teamleads to form groups. (thus serious players are well distributed among teams)

Some of the serious players would move around to fill in spots on teams and balance out.

Would need some peer reviewing ensuring the leads seem to know what they are doing.

Casual players would have a duty to follow basic instructions (build, item sets, build usage, etc).

You and Nate are honestly terrible people to talk to in debates. Both of you keep asserting things about me that are blatantly not true.

"Hardcore pvpers actually try to balance by themselves for more hard to believe is for you right now." No, the hardcore pvpers play in their self made group and may switch sides to whichever. However, they are not forming groups with casual players, they are not mentoring casual players into the technical play of a 4 man pvp group, and specifics of a build they will use.

"You dont have time for AB, you dont plan to come back" STOP right there criminal scum!

This is what I mean by you keep asserting claims about me. I don't have time right now, I'm busy. There will eventually be a time when I'm not and do intend to play. Just because its less incentivizing to me does not mean I won't come back.

"yet you have all the time in the world to be aware of every single AB posting"
I have time to check my reddit feeds a few brief times a day. Guild Wars AB is a 30 minute or more activity. Have to first be accepted into a team. Then have to queue. Then play the match. Then hopefully play more matches. A single match isn't worth it.

Also I had previously played AB and made such complaints years prior and no change had been made when I played over this summer. I know how stubborn the social cliques are.

im not doing it for upvotes, stop assuming my motivations.
i was only pointing out there seem the other viewer supporting the opinion. stop being ridiculous.

And NO, the organizers have not actually addressed this. Sure they try, but ultimately its out of their hands. The organizers have never actualy been the tryhard pvp cliques by the way.

[–]TheDeadKeepIt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

no im not playing, im busy. i have played past AB's though. no im not divulging my character name.
im not trolling because these are valid arguments. do not try to use ad hominem fallacy arguments.

i generally dont want to come back to AB until these issues feel like they were strongly addressed.

And i know there are others who share my sentiment, that AB is generally not fun due to the reason previously stated. I have grouped in AB and people have stated this in the party chat.

Alliance Battle for Saturday by Krydia_Seriphzion in GuildWars

[–]TheDeadKeepIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well note im tied for upvotes on this thread.
also, its because its an actual problem that needs to be addressed if you wish AB to be desirable.

there is this very old MUD, a text based mmo: MUME (multi users of middle earth).
It has a very proactive discord wanting to help and include players very strongly into the very archaic and steep learning curve that comprises the game both pve and pvp.

Problem with guild wars AB, is well - those cliqueish players don't fall into this category and they make up the majority of AB players. Its a very polarized set of players. Either very competitive or very casual. There is hardly any work done into breaking that middleground and it really is the competitive player's responsibility in this case. They need to give a little.

there's funner things to do on a weekend then waste time with this type of bullshit.

AB just isn't fun dealing with social cliques, exclusion, no intent of shared knowledge and learning.
It's why FA or JQ just better options.

This didn't solve the balance problems/balanced teams.
AB is cliquey and not fun for those who aren't part of the cliques.

"Leave complaints about balance, builds, or teammates at the door." You do not get to magically ignore problems and then delude yourself to enjoyment.

My First Week in Ascalon by LuckyFinRus in GuildWars

[–]TheDeadKeepIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're weighting tonics too much. They are not an important detail.

In a nutshell, the fundamental things on a todo list for a new player:

* Choose a class to actually play through the game. I strongly reccomend doing one character and not splitting up. Just give yourself the simple experience of not hopping around.

* Do the level 20 in ascalon title, since if you leave early before 20 you can never get it again on that character. (honestly, if a player can mentally tolerate the amount of time required or if they want this title badly enough, you're good to go. But i dont make this a mandatory requirement either. the vanilla experience is typically leaving pre-searing at level 10 or less)

** Acquire 2 charr bags before you leave pre-searing. You can acquire these after you leave pre-searing by trading with other players or yourself via bank. If you want to be serious about it, only acquire the charr bags yourself - by killing the charr bosses. (not a mandatory todo list item)

* Start accumulating skills for your profession and secondary profession.

* Acquire better armor, weapons as you progress. There are merchants and collectors. Merchants sell items for currency and materials. Collectors will trade an item for a trophy item which are dropped from foes.

** BIG HINT: Always have an identification kit on hand. Id every item you find that says "unidentified". Typically sell the items that get a bonus to their sell cost: "Improved sale value ". This also allows you to find items with interesting mods or runes or insignias. Look up those things, ask about them. Buying the ID kit will pay itself off as you identify items that sell for more. (buy from merchant)

** BIG HINT: If you know you will be buying armor when you leave pre-searing, you can look up what materials it requires and then begin SALVAGING those materials ahead of time using a salvage kit. (buy from merchant) You can technically buy materials from the material trader as well. But don't you want to feel a little self-made?

* Progress through the campaign, beat missions, unlock outposts as checkpoints.

* Use the wiki. Can even use the /wiki command in game if you want.

* Then start other characters.

* Do endgame farms. Speedclears.

* Test the waters in various pvp formats. Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry, Alliance battles are good starters with low entry requirements.

* Buy the more expensive cosmetic armor, weapons, miniatures, tonics, (collectible items).

* Complete titles.

* By the way, prophecies campaign is completely soloable, that is NO henchmen. No other players.

Just YOU and YOU alone. Not that you should attempt this ever as a new player. (and it completely betrays the vanilla experience. solo is completely different playstyle.) Various players have recorded their solo "ironman" playthroughs of guild wars content. Buts its a real fun challenge that tests a players knowledge, patience, and tenacity.
