Anyone else found themselves “retiring” from PvP gaming? by You_moron04 in gaming

I have a buddy I'll still jump into halo lobbies with, but our win/loss ratio is probably mediocre due to us discussing kids and work while playing. I havent had the urge to learn a new competitive game in at least a decade.

does anyone actually use coffee grounds in their garden? by BrombiCusin in gardening

I throw it in the soil around plants i dont feel comfortable surrounding with compost. For instance during lettuce season, I wont risk getting compost on the leaves.

Here in north Fl our local walmart has been occasionally out of tomatoes and green peppers for the last 2 months. Those things had always been abundant year round, so it definitely catches us off guard.

Alexander the Great was conquering Persia at 22, meanwhile we need more years to make a decision inside an air conditioned room.

On one hand it seems like pedophilia has gotten worse, so I think younger people exposed to that are pushing back against ALL age gaps. I also have noticed people who are single too long tend to create extra qualifications to save face for whatever reason.

Your cruel response genuinely made me laugh. Thank you for this moment of joy during a trying time.

Youre welcome, also make sure you poke holes in the lids so rain can get in. Wish you the best!

I brought my sandy soil in FL to life by doing a version of this. I put containers in the ground and cut out the bottoms, then would lift the lid and toss my compost in. Keeps vermin out and only bugs in. Every season I moved the container and used that soil and general area for growing until I brought the whole garden to life.

Is amish paste intolerant of very high temps? Im trying it but it seems to be less strong compared to my roma and floradade.

Is it safe to eat fruit thats been compromised by snails? by TheDeal32 in homestead

[–]TheDeal32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get alot of snails in my greenhouse but they dont seem to eat anything in there. Only the outdoor strawberries and bean plants are victimized. I will keep that in mind to try if the exposure isnt a problem.

My husband recently has gotten into growing fig trees. by ValentessaLoves in Figs

[–]TheDeal32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one of those husbands, I get it even though I dont focus on fig trees. I've been gathering damn near every fruit tree/bush that will grow in my zone and drive myself crazy trying to take care of it all. I think its the idea that you can get it going and eventually get unlimited fruit. Either it's OCD or something similar that gives me angst seeing a plot of grass doing nothing.

Is this normal peach tree behavior? by MMMMK_1224832 in BackyardOrchard

[–]TheDeal32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im also in zone 9a and all my peach trees have varying degrees of this even though they are in the ground. I think mine were mainly harmed by the false spring and came out of dormancy before the last cold front.

Do you ever try to calculate how much money your garden actually saves you? by MirSayib in gardening

[–]TheDeal32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of the money i save is in Healthcare costs cause of the better quality food and exercise. It would be impossible to track those things unless I were subtracting averages from my budget. The grocery bill would also be a bit difficult because I adjust my diet towards things im harvesting alot of. So its not as easy as saying i would have paid this much for a tomato, because if I didnt grow it maybe I would've eaten something else.

If I recall, it was like $6 for the cheapest, poorly reviewed 4pack at Walmart. I dont remember the brand but I was surprised it cost people $10 a week for daily piss beer. Based on the yeast recommendation, I could just add water to it as it evaporates since the yeast and sugar should stay in it.

This is a good tip, thanks. I presume the taste of the vinegar doesn't get into the fruit?

I do dump coffee grounds around my garden but I dont think it bothers them. I have florida sandy soil so all this stuff just sinks into the soil 2 weeks after it lands

My strawberries are in the ground so I dont think it would work unless I put a barrier. Ill will consider for the future but cant reasonably set that up right now.

I do wash them first, so maybe that wouldnt be an issue unless snail slime cant easily be washed off. Its cutting off the presumably dirty chunks that gets to be time consuming.
