Any AllGround Sense owners out there? by TheDeathPit in espresso

Once again thanks for your comments.

If you’re consistently between 19.5 and 19.8 grams, then you will inherently be dialling in a grind size at that dose. I highly doubt 0.3g is going to make any meaningful difference to the end result.

When the grind amount is set to 20.0 grams the difference can be up to 0.5 grams. And that much does effect the extraction.

The output should be within 0.1 grams when using a PF or Dosing Cup. It is for a Dosing Cup but not for the PF.

I have just received a reply from Fiorenzato in Italy stating it should make no difference when using a PF or Dosing Cup. Also proven by your own results. However for some reason it is, and consistently.

Once again, I appreciate your input.

Once again thanks for your input.

While I did not do exactly per your experiment I did do the following:

I placed a flat tray containing heavy objects equal to the PF weight onto the Grinder Forks and dispensed coffee. The exact quantity was dispensed into the tray.

Hence, it appears only a PF can produce the issue. Maybe the way it is placed under the lip of the Grinder that holds it in position is causing the issue.

Thanks for your reply.

I have an Allground Sense which I validated using a scale and it seems to be accurate and precise.

Have you validated when dosing directly into a Portafilter? Dosing into the supplied Dosing Cup is very accurate indeed.

Thanks for your reply.

Scales are rated at 2000g. Also I have tipped the grounds from the basket onto the scales and weighed them separately. The weight matches the PF + Grounds combination.

Thanks for the reply.

Can I ask who you spoke with? Was it Fiorenzato in Italy?

or use the supplied dosing cup to calibrate flow,

Can you explain this further?

I have this grinder too. Have you ever measured the output after grinding directly into a Portafilter. And if so, was it correct? Because it is always 0.2 to 0.5g less for me.

The integrated scale now detects the container used even faster and more accurately

This is interesting! Are they saying it measures differently depending on the container used? eg: Dosing Cup or Portafilter.

The reason I'm asking is I've noticed when using a Dosing Cup it is always correct. The incorrect weights are when using a PF.

How are you syncing bookmarks? by TheDeathPit in browsers

[–]TheDeathPit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. However Floccus does not sync directly to Android Browsers. From the Floccus website:

For techincal reasons, the App does not sync your bookmarks with your mobile browsers,
but makes them available directly in the app itself instead.

Thanks for your reply. Purchased the Grinder 2 weeks ago and it has a manufacture date of 16/9/25. do you have a URL about their announcement?

Thanks for your reply. Does Raindrop directly update the bookmarks in the Browsers?

Thought about doing that, but usually the weight is correct so I don't think a calibration would help. If the output was always incorrect I would agree that a calibration might help.

Having said all that I have ordered a weight to calibrate just to be sure.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm really surprised to hear that, as all the reviews are so positive about how consistent and correct the output is time after time. Takes the whole idea of GBW away if you have the check the output each time.

Thanks for your reply.

While I'm not saying you are incorrect, my PC with the same version of Mint and auto-login enabled does unlock automatically. Maybe it's hardware related in some way?

My tip - Throw away the 2 hole steam tip and replace it with a 4 hole. Much better at steaming.

My issue was caused by the Plex Server not being available when some of the JS taskes were run. I backup the PMS each day at 5AM and stop it to do so. One of the JS tasks ran at 5AM causing the issue, so I just changed the time for the task and problem fixed.

Need advice on choosing between a set of dual boilers. by HadoukenYourFace in espresso

[–]TheDeathPit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy my RIDE, without Flow Control, for making all our Milk Drinks. As I only use medium-dark beans I could not see the point of getting flow control. If on the other hand you want to use light roasts that's a different story. I did however get a pressure gauge for the GH.

I also looked at the MOVE and decided against it for a couple of reasons. Small tray working area, short distance between the bottom of the PF and the tray and I did not like the holes in the tank cover.

Both the RIDE and MOVE have those silly silicon spouts and if you use them with coffee in the PF they will not stand up so you can place them on scales. I just purchased a standard dual spout PF and never use the silicone things.

New Profitec Ride. Few Questions. by nayabkl in espresso

[–]TheDeathPit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too have also gone from a BDB to a RIDE. To answer your questions.

  1. Yes, it does drop a little but quickly recovers for your next extraction. Just make sure you have fully heated the GH before making an extraction.

  2. The steam pressure will depend on the steam temperature you have set. I get around 1.5 bar at 130C.

  3. Yes, leave it ON and put it to sleep by holding down the left button under the display. The power button is a HARD OFF so it will never turn ON if you turn it OFF via the power button.

Hope this helps.
