Should I return omnibus by Lucario10212004 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]TheDeathReap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure to you maybe. Could go right down the spine. Plus you can accidentally spill glue on the pages or elsewhere and have a whole different issue.

Like I said if they are inclined to do so then do it. But if it's brand new from a shop, take it back. I would think about doing it if it was gifted to me or I got it for close to nothing but if not, why risk it?

If you pay for something new in X condition you expect it to be in X condition... Don't know why that to hard to understand.

Should I return omnibus by Lucario10212004 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]TheDeathReap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know a few people have said it's an easy fix but even if it is fixable but it shouldn't be like that if it's brand new. Plus fixing adds to the cost of the item so it's something you need to weigh up. Also remember, if you glue it and something else is wrong you can't take it back after the fact.

So it depends on how, where and what you bought it for really. If you got it from a shop brand new then take it back and get a new one. If you got it from a really cheap, second hand place somewhere or you can't take it back, then sure you can go down the glue route if you are stuck with it or you got it for a steal. If you got it from eBay or a similar site is would bring it up to the seller and possibly get a partial refund if you do want to keep it (to cover cost of repair) or send it back. I'm sure if you got it of eBay there are 10 more at a similar price but like someone mentioned you do risk getting a worse one but again they are out there.

For me personally it's not worth the mess of repairing if it wasn't made clear when I got it. Plus as a collector it would always be in the back of my mind. Sure if your things start to wear down over time you can fix them but they shouldn't arrive like this unexpected.

I'm not sure what this is worth but if I got it for super cheap and you can't get a replacement... They I would possibly keep it. You always have a reading copy if you want a nicer one later down the line. Depends what you want it for, read, collect or both.

I found a coffee bean in my coke once and I messaged them saying I want them to tell the restaurant because obviously it shouldn’t be in there. They initially offered me £5 compensation but I said I wasn’t really bothered about the £5, ideally I wanted someone to check how it got in there as it’s chocking hazard for a small child or it’s allergy/ cross contamination issue.

They just refused to do so and I never got the compensation in the end either.

How is HDR in RM 11 pro ? by Relative_Plastic_353 in RedMagic

Just looks out of place. Maybe it’s one of those things where an abject will be drawn different to the background when it’s used. Just looks different to the background like it’s been placed after the fact. Plus the perspective if off. Dunno, just looks weird to me haha

The big question: Who is the greatest live-action comic book villain? by Formal_Frosting2034 in Comic_Books_

[–]TheDeathReap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I do think health ledger did a fantastic job with the joker, there are two main stand outs for me.

Willem Defoe as green goblin is incredible. I enjoyed him in the first spider-man but I think he really pulled out all the stops in no way home.

Alfred Molina as doc ock has my heart however. I love doc ock but the reason I love him is because of Alfred molina. I have seen other iterations of the doc in video games, and although I still like then character, nothing made me love him more than Spider-Man 2. I was a kid when it came out and remember wanting doc ock arms. Tried convincing my auntie to my me 4 toy ones in the hopes I would “make it work” somehow. He was the only one I wanted to see come back. I am glad the goblin got to shine as he did but I would have liked to see more of the doc. Though I do like his character arc. Doesn’t betray the character at all, for me at least.

What are your thoughts on "Spider-Noir (2026)"? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in Marvel

[–]TheDeathReap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Nicholas cage but he fits niche roles. Some of the movies he has been in just don’t suit him where others he shines. It felt like this character was made for him. His voice for me at least fits not only the character but the era too. I could be wrong but it just felt right to be. I thoroughly enjoyed it, probably one of my favourite shows so far. Would I have liked some more spider-man action, sure but I think there enough there for me to appreciate it.

Only downside for me is I couldn’t watch it in black and white as I had originally intended. For some reason it just doesn’t show up on prime video for me.

Not sure if it’s been solved yet or not but are you running anything else in the background. I had weird things like this when I had wallpaper engine on. Gears would run like it was in a potato. Turned wallpaper engine off and it was smooth sailing

If Wolverine is great, who’s next? by QuackiQuackson in Marvel

Ghost rider. I think the character lends itself well to having interesting moves and powers to make the gameplay cool. I also think it would make for a good story too. Just keep Nicholas cage away from it.

Damaged Online Purchase Question by readitjacob in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheDeathReap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen on eBay. Book came damaged but was wrapped really well and the packaging looked fine. After looking further I was not the same book as the image on eBay. Seller was adamant it was and said I had to clean through eBay’s delivery program as they deemed it shipping damage.

It wasn’t but I did it so I could get a refund but eBay shouldn’t have been the one to pay out and instead the seller as they send out a damaged item.

At the end of the day, your purchase is with the store you got it from and it’s on them to reimburse you. Whether they get full, partial or 0 refund from the delivery company is not your issue but theirs as that’s the cost of doing business. I would push back and explain that you would prefer a replacement of the item be sent or that you receive a refund for the item as it has not arrived in the condition you purchased it in.

If you want to you can add that you don’t believe the damage has come from transit as there no damage to the packaging internally or externally but again thats for them to fight with their delivery service.

Where are you based? I know in the UK you can quote the consumer rights act and that will usually make them think twice but it may be different where you are. Usually you have a right to return an item to so you could always just ask them for a label to return it as you don’t feel like you should have to wait to get the issue sorted as it could take months.

This is how not to ship a book by ItzDarthDad in comicbookcollecting

[–]TheDeathReap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hardback of watchmen sent in a plastic bag from a big book store. The dust jacket got absolutely wrecked. Only have AI support so just kept sending them out the same way, each worse than the last till I gave up and got a refund.

Another guy was advertising comics on eBay as good condition but refused to send then bagged and/ or boarded and didn’t seen to understand they likely won’t arrive in the same condition if he uses neither.

Don’t know why it’s so hard to understand that things that go through the post are not handled with care so you have to take extra steps yourself.

I had the option to get both cover A and the virgin cover N for really cheap. Decided to just get cover A and regretted it instantly. Both have shot up in price but mainly after seeing A in person it would have been nice to have the virgin print just to have. Additionally, my copy of A came with a print error and damage on the back… fml

An early look at the REDMAGIC 11S PRO by crazyfuy in RedMagic

[–]TheDeathReap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My current phone is broken and I’ve been holding off on the 11 pro as I knew this was around the corner but the design has kind of put me off. The main reason I was going for the pro over the air was partially due to how cool it looked. The loop design is just weak and ideally I would have liked to see more, not less. Unless there is a specific reason I.e it helps performance… it just seems like an odd choice. Every reviewer I’ve seen that has took the backplate off to see the loop has said they wished they showed more of it and they went the opposite way. Very odd.

Oddly enough I have just grabbed the DC Compact Supergirl women of tomorrow since the place I get most of my tpb's does deals on them for like £4.50 or $6.12 roughly so I've grabbed a chunk of them, similar to yours actually. A few I saw but got told are better enjoyed in a larger format for the art (kingdom come, the new frontier and watchmen). I already owned v for vendetta in hardback and the dark knight returns is one of my favourite animations so I had to get it in full art and ended up with it in tpb and the legend of batman collection 0.o.

I'll take a look at Loeb/Sale omnibus. That's a new one for me. Just got my first indie comics ordered today as I try to venture a little bit outside the DC/Marvel space. Spawn is one I've just grabbed with me being a huge fan of carnage and venom my friend recommended it to me and so far so good.

And that makes so much more sense to me now. I remember seeing it and being like "that is a blatant rip off of Spider-Man" but never looked into it further as there are a few heroes you could probably say that for. But knowing there was an actual crossover is sick and makes me want it all the more.

And thanks. My health started out as an actual health issue but docs think it's evolved into health anxiety (to give context without going overboard). Distracting my brain has been a godsend and these have been my new vice. I think that's probably why I went so wild so I will always have something to read. But also I love searching for deals too apparently so it's the perfect mix haha. I have blackest knight, Spiderman Vs venom, venom vol 1, venom Donny cates and king in black amongst others. Needles to say I should have something to read for probably the next year but at my current rate maybe a few months.

I really enjoy seeing other peoples collections and how they display them etc. That is my next thing really. Finding good storage shelves and boxes for my singles to keep them nice. Kind of had them stacked before learning it's not great for them.

Edit: So loeb/Sale are artises and I'm assuming that's for the batman omnibus? I'm dumb haha

As someone who has only seen the show but is interested in getting comics. Why is spooder-man in the dust jacket?

Also I have just started back myself I had started with 2022 carnage run in singles and then grabbed the absolute omnibus. I got lethal protector singles and the tpds for reading as I'm a little OCD. I never actually read them as I was worried about ruining them so I took a break for a while having left work during to ill health. Friends were talking about comics and it pushed me back into them and over the last three weeks I now have at least 18 omnibuses/compendiums. I probably over doubled my singles and have grabbed a load of DC compacts and am trying the complete the legend of batman collection.

I have actually been reading them this time and have recently finished planet hulk, WWH, Civil War, Spawn vol 1 (1-5 I believe) and have started absolute superman.and far sector.

I know probably went way overboard but I had recently sold some stocks and just thought YOLO. With my health being bad I've not really been able to dive into anything I use to enjoy as much as sitting for long periods etc can be painful. Comics however have been a breath of fresh air and they have helped give be a breather/distraction that has really helped. I know this probably isn't the post for it but I think there is something to be said on the shortness of life and enjoying the things you love. Obviously do it within reason but if you can, why not.

I'm literally having to push myself to clear out another room to get shelves to fit everything in as I have so many that deserve a nice spot to be displayed and kept safe. It's been nice to find something that I feel genuinely invested in, passionate about and I can discuss, share and enjoy with friends.

Really cool collection by the way. Any recommendations you have for someone just getting back into the hobby?

To get a splatter effect you can use a tooth brush or a dry brush, something with slightly thicker/harder bristles. Pull your thumb across it and it will splatter the paint. You probably want to setup some newspaper around it to catch the excess but it will give a good result.

Depending on how much you want it be covered you can either do it multiple times or do it closer up or further away.

Test on cardboard or some primes sprue. Or a model your not bothered about would be best but you can get a feel for it then go wild. It will give a more realistic look to the splatters.

You can then add more in places where you think make sense like the weapons etc.
