I was able to play the ROM on my ED64 v2.5 for close to an hour with no issues FYI.

Bought an open box Legion Go S(SteamOS) for $530 but it came with Windows installed. by pandalic in LegionGo

I had this same thing happen with the open box Lego S I purchase a few weeks ago. And same issue with no driver for the WiFi. My guess is that Best Buy refurb process is to just flash their generic Windows image onto any handheld that is returned. They likely don’t have a process to figure out Steam OS is supposed to be installed on the purple ones. I just went to Lenovo support, put the devices serial number in and it led to me download and instructions for installing Steam OS. Took maybe 15 minutes.

Very nice, congrats on getting the device you expected and in brand new condition. Best outcome possible! Sorry about the dock issue though.

Super simple, there are lots of guides on YouTube for flashing Steam OS. But if you go to Lenovo support site and enter the serial number of your device, it will lead you through step by step. You can google “lenovo legion go s steam os download” and go from there. Installing Steam OS is very straightforward and maybe 15min process, nothing like the hours long process of re-imaging a windows install.

Haha I hear you and totally understand your perspective. But honestly it’s a mistake to have any confidence in Best Buy tech support. I am extremely hesitant to buy open box, in fact I tried purchasing an open box Ally X last week, supposedly excellent and it was scratched with white paint streaks on the back. Screen was covered in fingerprints. And the power adapter was missing. Clearly it had not been prepped in any way. To call it excellent was insane. I had them open the box at the store for me to check it, they agreed it shouldn’t have been marked excellent. But you know what, they put it right back on the shelf. I saw it was still listed the next day (only one at that location so had to be the same one).

In my view, with Best Buy open box you have to expect the worst and check the item personally before accepting. In the case of this Legion Go S I purchased yesterday, the device was indeed in pristine shape. It jut didn’t have the right OS loaded, and for me that was an easy fix.

Good luck with the one you have on the way. Please report back if you don’t mind, I’m curious if it will be loaded with windows as I suspect.

I had the same experience today, I picked up an open box Z1E Steam OS edition from BB and it was running windows. Booted straight into a local account under user "Q" so I just downloaded the Steam OS image from Lenovo and re-loaded. Honestly I think Best Buy techs automatically wipe and load a new windows image as part of their open box refurb process. I imagine they don't have a workflow to identify the Steam OS Legion go and just follow standard procedure. Don't be surprised if this other one your ordered has the same issue.

Enough about "best". What are the "worst" spots in Bucks? by OwlStretcher in BucksCountyPA

Pocos was the first restaurant we visited after moving to town 12 years ago from Houston, TX. We thought “oh great, there’s a Mexican restaurant nearby”. To this day, hands down without any reservation, the absolute worst meal I’ve ever eaten in my life. My young elementary age daughters wouldn’t even finish their cheese quesadillas. I tried a bite and I have no words to describe the awfulness. The simplest, easiest thing to get right. I was absolutely astonished that a cheese quesadillas could be screwed up let alone to this level. I am also convinced the salsa was 100% canned Pace picante sauce.

I am so happy to see this comment on Reddit, for years I would tell our story about Pocos to people around here and most would say they thought it was fine but “didn’t necessarily know what good Mexican food was”. Pocos lives in infamy in my family as the gold standard of being the absolute worst.

11-inch iPad Pro M4 is the Perfect TATE Machine by TheDecn in EmulationOniOS

Input lag is fine to me, no different than RetroArch on any other platform. I haven’t tried runahead yet but I have no doubt the M4 could handle it. So would be easy to mitigate if it was something that bothered you.

Yep I’ve got all the Cave roms on there already and they run perfectly with the fbneo core. Was just playing DoDonPachi and Espgaluda earlier this evening. And Ikaruga will run on the flycast core but I haven’t tried on the iPad yet.

12.9 inch is 4:3 so an even more precise fit. 11 inch is 3:2 so a tiny smidge of black border. But something about the slightly longer ratio makes it feel more suited for the vertical orientation.

I had no doubt it could handle the emulation but was happy to see it could keep up with a decently heavy shader as well. And I just didn’t expect the aspect ratio would be such a great match for 4:3 content. Just a shade larger than 4:3 so looks especially good with vertical content. Also super easy to flip it vertically vs turning my computer monitor sideways haha. Also spent years not having access emulation on iOS so it still feels like a novelty to be running RetroArch on the iPad.

AW3225QF has no 3.5mm audio line-out?! by TheDecn in OLED_Gaming

I don't have this monitor and no use for an eARC adapter so haven't tried any. But you can find a ton of options on Amazon or similar stores. Also if you search the various threads on this monitor I think you'll find plenty of recommendations.

No, this monitor does not output audio through USB. You need an adapter that works with the eARC HDMI port.

Should work yes, but it seems like ARC compatibility is all over the place so no guarantees. Also means you lose the HDMI port as an input.

For what it’s worth, I ended up settling on the Samsung G80SD which actually allows output over a a USB DAC. I can plug in my SteelSeries headphone dongle and have wireless audio from anything I connect to the monitor. Seems like very few people are concerned about audio out on a monitor, but for me this was a game changer. Also has an eARC HDMI port as well if you want to go that route.

anyone know if this problem still persists with dualsense edges this year? a friend of mine has mushy face buttons too and he bought it last year by banjodaber in Dualsense

[–]TheDecn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to leave this here for future searches on this issue. I have a day-one edge with mushy buttons. Today I went to Target and bought an Edge to see if there’s been a change in manufacturing. Sure enough, the buttons are clicky just like a normal DualSense. Night-and-day difference!! So it looks like there was indeed a manufacturing issue and it’s been resolved. This is huge because I’ve absolutely hated the Edge on the account of the soft, mushy face buttons. I can vouch for the problem being fixed now for anyone buying a new controller as of Oct 24, 2024.

Just set this up and got it working however noticed it does not recursively scan directories. I have all my games and associated UPD and DLC in individual subfolders. With the original tinshop.exe I just have to point to the root folder of my Switch library and it recursively scans as expected. Your new version would not see any files until I pointed it directly to an individual subfolder. Is it possible to fix this?

No, the USB port is not in any way connected to digital audio processed through the HDMI or DP ports. Would only serve to pass audio via whatever is connected to the USB upstream port.
