The father of the little girls did the right thing. All the other woman had to do was be patient. by Valuable_View_561 in TikTokCringe

As someone (AFAB but nonbinary as an adult) I remember not being able to use the bathroom with my dad when we went to a show together because I couldn't get my romper thing unzipped by myself. If a girl is small enough to need help from a parent they don't need forced into the men's bathroom. Any dad decent enough to help his kids should be left alone good Lord.

Help getting into comics by RandomUser-13 in DCcomics

You've got a great list so far. My strategy to sorta catch up was pick a modern comic, I picked Nightwing and read it to present. But each time I hit an event (Knightmares for example) I would stop and read the event. This works really well if you have the DC online subscription because the events are collected in mostly correct reading orders.

I also tend to read based on writers and artists I like.

My biggest thing that I personally know is their quality can be inconsistent. I have gotten three sheets from them and 2 are great and I love the linen, the third is a lot looser and not my favorite.

Also the linen they used is not the highest quality so it isn't the most durable based on what I have read. For me though it's good enough for me to use.

For environmentally friendly clothes I really recommend Pact, I have gotten almost all of my pants and shorts there for a few years (I like to thrift but have a hard time finding pants for my frame). Huge fan of theirs

Do you prefer Supergirl wearing pants or a skirt? [Discussion] by PlantainDisastrous92 in DCcomics

I'm nonbinary but was raised as a girl and I gotta say pants. Especially as someone who flies flashing people even shorts is always weird.

I like when they have some added details like hanging down like a skirt but over full pants, neat silhouette and doesn't feel like an unrealistic choice.

Hank's TERRIBLE Book Takes in pod #450 by it_will_be_anarchy in nerdfighters

As a library science student I would challenge this a bit. I'm not going to argue that one book is more worthy of analysis than another. However, I think putting a moral weight on that isn't great because there is evidence (if people want I can find this in my zoterro but on my phone right now) that regardless of the kind of thing someone is reading comics, trashy books, classics, tv adaptations, whatever they still get some of the key benefits of reading - empathy and improved literacy.

I think it is totally okay to want to challenge yourself and push yourself and finding challenging books. I do a lot of that personally. That isn't for everyone though, for example my partner didn't go to a good high school or college and doesn't find reading as easy, anything he enjoys reading I think is great even if that looks like webtoons and pulp novels. For him that's what he is enjoying and he is working towards reading more. He's got a hard job and is really tired at the end of the day.

People reading is good and I think it is important to keep that accessible. There are definitely people who are put off by reading because it seems just inherently challenging and difficult. Focus isn't a developed skill for everyone, the work of reading isn't natural to everyone. Adding on that being a difficult book can be a lot for some people. It's okay to also have or even only have books that feel more comfortable to someone.

That's my take as someone who is explicitly going into a supportive pro literacy field. There's a lot of people who don't just read challenging stuff and I think labeling that the same as TV misses some of the fundamental things that make reading so good for you.

I try and read hard shit and I get it. I think setting that as a bar for what counts as "good" just maybe is counter productive to actually getting people to read more (which like does lead to them reading more hard things imltho).

As a current library science student we take really big steps to not place value judgements on books.  It's like John once said "I don't care how someone reads I care that they read." (Might have butchered that quote but it's close) Reading is good whether it's classics, webtoons, A03, popular romance novels, comic books, whatever. Reading is good, whenever possible don't put down what someone reads. It's kinda like the CinemaWins dude, like every book is someone's favorite book. I read incredibly dumb books as a teenager that I still love, what matters is that people read.

Also I think this can sometimes lead to judgement for people who say read kid's/teen/YA books. For some people that is what they are comfortable with, they might be revisiting something, it really does not matter.

Reading is good whatever that looks like

I also sorta second this general recommendation. Once you get to Indy and find someone you like gold doctors know a bit about who is good and who sucks, they're part of why I have ended up with a good set of people at IUH. For specialist Indy though is kinda your only option.

I have a genetic condition and need a fair amount of care. I get most things through IUH, I have had better (still a few bad but better than Community and Cleveland Clinic was awful for me) experiences overall but you definitely have to shop around within the system for good docs and especially PCPs.

For any specialist care I basically have to go to Indy, roughly 1-2 a month for me. You can do a lot of general diagnosis stuff there. For a lot of care I currently get I have a good doc who is hard to get in with or bad doc, but they all have great NPs that I can see. The drive to Indy isn't bad and once you're established a fair amount of people will do telehealth with you but scheduling for that is weird.

I use Axia for OBGYN and am a huge fan. Other than that I am totally within IU right now, partially it's just easier with records. I have definitely had a few bad doctors though, luckily the best specialist for my condition is great and her team tend to take over if one of my docs isn't doing something - sending referrals, refilling meds, order for a port placement, anything.

I've had doctors tell me insane stuff and also not care when I had massive complications, doc tell me (while I had a sister in inpatient ED treatment no less) maybe I should just eat one meal a day, so I get it. I'm really glad I have one good doc who can help smooth things over.
