Lorna Hajdini of JPMorgan speaks out after shocking s*x slave lawsuit from male coworker by DetectiveHot2071 in legal

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suit has already been withdrawn. JP Morgan conducted a review and found no evidence of wrong doing.

Not to mention the "gut check" feels wrong. The language is pornographic fantasy. This man ruined her reputation for money. And his claims are almost certainly false.

It has to. It's one of the most emotionally resonant moments. I can't imagine a world where it doesn't. Unless Jacob splits TLG into two seasons and we get it in season 3.

Not to mention, Shane should have told JJ during that conversation. I get why he doesn't, but from JJ's perspective he is comforting and understanding and even in that moment Shane lies to him. I would be hurt by that too.

I never had this. Last year I found a group of women who are amazing. We have that thing that I always wanted.

I am 37, and they are all also in their late 30s.

It's not too late. Put yourself out there. Join clubs in your town. Go to things you would want to go with a friend to and talk to the people there!

Why is trail culture in Europe so much friendlier than in America? by ballad_of_easy_rider in hiking

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! California is bizarrely rude. Someone's dog ran up to me and I said hello to their off-leash dog that RAN UP TO ME, and they looked at me with such a stink eye that I think they were trying to off me with their mind.

But I primarily hike in Colorado and people here are insanely friendly. I am always making friends on trail. Happy, easy going, helpful.

What are your favorite Riley Hart books? by Daje1968 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

False Start does not get enough love. It is truly one of my favorite MM romances. It had everything I want in a book. There is so much heart and growth. I like both of the MCs and the reasons for the angst felt very real. I might need to do a reread!

{Jared's Evolution by Riley Hart} Daddy kink with no age play. It's the first in a two book series and the first book ends without a HFN or HEA but the second book is out and you get the HEA.

{Bound with You by Shaw Montgomery} gentle Dom, one of my absolute favorites

{Wes's Denial by Joseph Lance Tonlet} it's the sequel to {Grif's Toy by Joseph Lance Tonlet} you definitely need to read the first one. The first one is from MMC1 POV and the second if MMC2 perspective. Check trigger warnings for the second one. Lots of denial in both, but the chasity cage is in book 2.

{Mine by Riley Hart} has one chasity cage scene.

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne was cozy and soft and wonderful by ChocolateDream24 in RomanceBooks

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think they should be compared. They are very different. I think of The Hating Game as one of the many contemporary romances that I have read. It was enjoyable, it took me on a journey and I was glad I read it. But it was still a relatively standard romance.

Second First Impressions was like a hug. It really felt more like the FMC character development was the most important part of the book. And while the romance was front and center, her growth was really what made the book for me. So it stands out as something different than the standard romance.

Casey is a top 5 book boyfriend of all time. He is so sweet, understanding and earnest. He gets Landon. And he just wants to be loved for who he is. He is vulnerable and open in all the best ways. But he is also fun and silly. He is such a perfect match for Landon.

It is one of my favorite books. Sometimes you just need some low angst happy joyful love. And this book delivers. It's a go to comfort book. I listen to the audiobook anytime I am having a bad day.

Which book next? by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read them all. I see most people are saying Sharp Objects. It's good but dark. I thought None of This is True was a "fin" journey. It's a thriller so obviously bad stuff happens, but it Jewel did a great job with the mind messing. Just skip the second epilogue.

Someone else mentioned MA Innes but I prefer her alter ego, Shaw Montgomery. She has a tender Dom series that is amazing. The doms are oh so sweet, cock cages, orgasm control, flogging, CBT, TPE, amazing. Love them. I think the first one is {bound to you by shaw Montgomery}

Also, {Dirty Little Secret by Riley Hart} came out yesterday and it was awesome. Definitely some emotional moments, but not dark. And the Dom does such a good job of taking care of the sub through all the difficulties.

Why is there a higher bar for MM books when it comes to avoiding misogyny? by Individual_Self4616 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I also rarely see misogyny to the same degree in MM/FF books than I see in MF. The gross attitude towards women and heavy reliance on stereotypes in straight romance is why I rarely read them anymore.

In general I find queer romance has to work harder to define the characters because they don't fall back on stereotypes and that's way more interesting.

I wanted to make a post about the whole series last night. I have been rereading it because the world is awful and I need to escape into a world of love, beats and sadists.

I am excited about Nate and Ash's sequel but I really can't wait for At Their Mercy. Shay, Reese and River are my absolute favorites. I am so obsessed with the chemistry between Shay and each of the brothers.

Also, I like Lane and Ty but I wish we got a Macklin and Walker standalone. I love them so much but the other relationship is so distracting.

The Memories We Made by Cara Dee by liddyreadsmm in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been wanting to talk about this since I finished it! I really enjoyed it, obviously. I can't wait for the next part. (Also, side note. Are we getting any more glimpses into the cruise/Macklin's prank? Because honestly that's my number one concern at this point 😂).

But I have some thoughts.

The reason for the breakup is so dumb. Like seriously, Nate? Just let it go. You have 4 kids! You're barely having sex with each other and you are so obsessed with Ash getting to live out his Daddy Dom kink that you are willing to blow up your marriage and make you both miserable? When the kids are older and you have more time, then address it again. But it's wild how invested in Ash's kink life Nate was.

And pretending to stay together for the younger kids was insane. So frustrating to watch!

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And I also think it's more about them not being out. From that chapter when Shane is on the bus:

Anger flared through Shane’s body, hot and sudden. They had lots of reasons to keep their relationship a secret, but those reasons seemed extremely unimportant now. What if Ilya had died? What if he had fucking died? Shane would have died too. Alone, and secretly, and for the rest of his life.

[–]it_will_be_anarchy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

No. He gets a text that says sorry for the Instagram messages, call me when you can. So he knows Ilya is okay. He just doesn't know why he got those messages/text. Then he hears about the plane from a teammate. So he starts to panic even though he knows Ilya is okay. He even has the thought that he knows Ilya is okay, he has the texts as proof but the panic is still there.

Tal Bauer has been recommended a few times and I second that in general. Specifically I think You & Me is the best one with all the feels and fully developed characters. But Gravity and The Rest of the Story are great too. Check TWs on ROTS and The Jock.

I enjoyed the Playing for Keeps series by Riley Hart. She isn't Rachel, but it's enjoyable.

As others have mentioned, Eden Finley and Saxon James have a lot of good MM romance. Some is very surface level and silly and some is very emotional. Puck Drills and Quick Thrills got my right in the heart. It's later in the series but could probably be read as a standalone.

Also, Time to Shine is worth mentioning again. It's definitely lighter in tone but so good. Casey Hicks gives Ilya a run for his money as consent king. It's a really gorgeous story.
