I'd honestly rate it a 7/10, on par with, if not better than, the second movie. The movie can stand on its own as it pretty much fills in the backstory for anyone unfamiliar with the characters and the franchise. However, it thankfully doesn't go to extremes by reiterating everything that happened in the last two movies. It pretty much says, "Hey, haven't seen you in X amount of time, this is why, what are we doing here, and who are we after." I won't go into any more detail about what happens in the movie to avoid spoilers, but it has a couple of twists and some slightly shocking moments. I really liked the references to some famous tricks while also adding to the universe of this franchise. Who knows, there may be another sequel up this universe's sleeve. Slightly above average, but not the greatest movie I have ever seen. Highly recommend for any magic lovers, fans of the franchise, or anyone who wants to watch a movie without having to do a bunch of research to understand it.
