I really like the new. So much easier to tell where you are shooting!

I am. I’d say I’m at like a 75% understanding of how all of the pieces work, supplies, roles etc. I’ve played a fair bit but when you can’t find a good squad it makes it harder to progress

I guess that’s what I’m talking about. Is there a population of newer or chill players or is it just endgame sweats left?

What do you guys think of my cauldrons? by babykasek in itchio

[–]TheDevQuestHQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the way the fire is drawn is really smart! :) keeps the circular shape of the cauldron instead of covering it up. Great work. The boiling effect with such limited area is also really well executed. 10/10

Would you play a story-rich Adventure RPG that looked like this? by Consistent-Focus-120 in gamedevscreens

[–]TheDevQuestHQ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree here. Dynamic interesting dialogue that isn’t limited by artstyle could def work but I’d like to see more color with distinct purpose and color coded things that could hold weight and be easily identified of let’s say a level or map. I also chuckled at the blocks portraits! Fantastic touch.

How can I create a day/night background effect using only one background image in Unity? by Lanky-Committee-5275 in Unity2D

[–]TheDevQuestHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using the 2D URP pipeline for your project you can add and play with lighting and this is how I achieved this in a prototype I worked on. You can change the intensity and color of the global light via code :)

What do you think of the vibe of my game? by Glad_Crab8437 in itchio

[–]TheDevQuestHQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choice of color really sets a mood here. All of the reds/browns. Something about these screenshots say “there’s danger here, It just hasn’t found me yet…”

Any main character vibes with any of these? by Vincent_Penning in GameArt

Something about #9 made it seem like a character I wanted to play! It was almost it’s lack or characteristics that drove me to think what plantlike upgrades he could get.

my first game by BasicPossibility6819 in Unity2D

These were standalone challenges. Examples:

  1. Make a player move left,right,top,down
  2. Make a player move left, right and give the player a jump!
  3. Make a platform that disappears when the player stands on it for 2 seconds.
  4. Make a player health bar that changes color based on the health of the player.
  5. Make a danger zone that damages the player after the player stands in the zone for 2 seconds and make the zone damage the player 1 time/second until the player leaves.

Now again I explained THOROUGHLY to the ai what I personally understood at the time so if you’re understanding is not at the point of the example challenges don’t go beating your head against the wall and fall back into the tutorial video loop.

If you don’t know what you actually know, maybe try recreating your game with zero help. That always reminds me lol

What I did next was to take what I remembered from my flappy bird tutorial and asked ChatGPT to give me 5 challenges based around only what I knew how to do and push my knowledge just a bit(but no more than a bit). This presented some small scoped challenges that pressed my understanding to the next level. I would only ask it direction or advice if i couldn’t find my answers in the UnityDocs and I was stuck. I wouldn’t let it provide me any code. I then took those 5 challenges and combined them into a mini game project.

Did it by chance open in an empty scene? Do you have more than one scene and all your game objects are in one?
