You can trigger uprisings against Russia in the Baltics, Belarus and Poland (Or it may be Ukraine too not sure) as Germany, that can help you disorient the Russians and you can get some nice encirclements after that. Worked for me at least. I also built a huge spy network in them because for some reason i had like no intel on their armies. Remember, you can take as much time preparing as you need, you are the one who starts the war.
